@abitcoinskeptic,
I wish I'd thought to do this post. I am undoubtedly "anti-woke." My problem: I do not suffer fools gladly.
I have an aversion to absurdity ... which makes me an absolute prick. My love of logic and insistence on providing evidence-in-support-of-an-assertion ... well, some people just can't be helped.
I'm going to go do this Quiz. I will report back on my horrendousness. I am certain I will make you look like an amateur. Hell, I dislike people simply for using the word, "woke."
Quill
EDIT: As suspected, I am Genghis Khan.
That is such a ridiculous Quiz, it beggars credulity. Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if it is actually a Marketing Tool (perhaps paid for) ... deliberately designed to manipulate Moderates into inching Left. I'm in advertising ... and I smell intent.
One of the tricks marketers learned a long time ago is, "The way you frame the options you provide people can dramatically influence their thinking."
For example, let's say you want to sell a bottle of wine for $15.00. You will maximize your chances if you surround your offer with deliberately unappealing options that make your "real offer" feel more appealing:
- Lying Ass Merlot (Full Bottle) $45.00
- (Fake Option) "Your Wine" Merlot $12.00 (Half Bottle)
- "Your Wine" Merlot $15.00 (Full Bottle)
Option 1, Lying Ass Merlot, set a High Price anchor, making your price (Option 3) look very reasonable by comparison.
But Option 2 was also a very important manipulation. If Half a Bottle of Your Wine is worth $12.00 ... then a Full Bottle ought to be worth $24.00, right? But you can get a Full Bottle for a mere $15.00. BONUS!!!
Apply that same manipulative technique to the "possible answers" in this Quiz.
For example: . What Do You Think About The Gender Pay Gap?
. 1.) It's Real And It Needs To Be AddressedOK, this is the obvious answer for the "woke." But they're already sold ... this Quiz is not for them. Nevertheless, notice that there's no hyperbolic language ... just a reasonable-sounding "statement of fact." . 2.) I'm Sure It Exists But I'm Not Sure It's As Big An Issue As Some Make It Out To Be.
This is what the Quiz is all about.
You're a Moderate, either Republican or Democrat, or a Centrist Independent like myself.
Clicking on Option 3 would make you an utter troglodyte (how many people believe that?) ... but you're not ready to throw in your lot with the green-haired Social Justice Warriors whom, given their theatrics and evidence-free assertions, you deem lunatics ... and you know they're the Option 1 folks.
So what's left?
Options 2. It sounds ... Moderate. But look carefully at what Option 2 got you to subconsciously agree to:
- "I'm Sure It Exists" (The Wage Gap)
and
- "I'm Not Sure" It's As Big An Issue As Some Make It Out To Be.
While this may sound innocuous, this is precisely the subtle rhetorical techniques ad agencies (I own one) employ to "Sway the Uncommitted." First, get them to agree to "little things" ... get them saying, "Yes."
. 3.) Women Should Be At Home Raising Children, Not Working AnywayTroglodyte.
If you were really trying to run an honest Quiz, why not include a more reasonable-sounding Option than "barefoot and pregnant?" How about the point critics of the Wage Gap actually make:
- The Wage Gap Does Not Exist.
While there is an Earnings Gap between men and women (the total amount of money earned by males vs females), the difference is explained by differences in "life choices" made by the genders (Majors in university, hours worked, interrupting a career to have children, danger pay, willingness to relocate, time flexibility, non-monetary benefits, etc.) It is not caused by companies paying men more for doing the same job.
The only "studies" alleging a Wage Gap emanate from Gender Studies departments, notoriously Far Left activists. Studies emanating from all other faculties, such as Economics, conclude that there's no problem to fix. . . Quill
I have only seen this "woke" term once or twice and after reading those definitions, I can't say I'm any wiser about it haha!
Interesting talking points for the questions. I tend to stay away from such issues and live with a simple motto:
Do whatever makes you happy as long as it doesn't bring physical or non-physical harm to any one else.
Am I woke? I dunno, I only just woke up so hard to tell 😂
