Scenes from a Cirque

Here are a few captures from a recent hike to Ptarmigan Cirque, or as I call it: “Scenes from a Cirque”. In case you don’t know what a cirque is, it is an amphitheater like valley formed by glacial erosian. I really went crazy taking photos on this adventure. There were just so many photo ops to take advantage of. I wonder how many years went into the making of this cirque? Probably thousands (but maybe only hundreds?). Who knows, but one thing I do know, is that this place is very special for us hikers and adventure seekers.

    Those mountains look great in black and white except the one's with the larch trees. They are too pretty to take away the color. That really is a cool glacially produced spectacle. It's beautiful! How long did it take to hike up there?
