Drugwars - Introducing FUTURE the new DrugWars Token.

FUTURE or The tokenization of DrugWars and all FutureShock Apps

We are glad to announce the new FutureShock token named “FUTURE”. The name itself is a reference to the Drugwars Incubator - Futureshock and how we are always working for the future of the crypto-world and more precisely for the Steem Blockchain.

How will it be integrated in Drugwars.

First of all, we would like to notify all the players that in 48h the daily prize and the heist will see some changes. There won’t be anymore rewards with Steem, instead we are adding a new mechanic that will allow you to earn the FUTURE Tokens. While the daily prize will increase depending of your rank, the number of maximum deposit will be also limited until we deploy our final solution against bots.

Why FUTURE and not DRUGS?

We wanted an unique token which can be cross used over all our platforms (and maybe even more). The name DRUGS was also complicated for being listed on exchanges.

In depth.

The new mechanic is still based on your drugs production as well as the Heist. That will allow you to earn the FUTURE tokens. Then you will be able to use the FUTURE Tokens in the game and later on you’ll be able to exchange (which won’t take too much time as discussions are being held now). Plus: You will also get FUTURE Tokens airdropped depending on your investment in Drugwars.

Wait! What happen to the rest of the pool?

The entire pool will be used to inject value to the FUTURE tokens. This will give a way for all early players to recover a small fraction of their Steem if they want. (But we definitely suggest you to keep them because nobody know what the FUTURE is made from)

Can I still be rewarded with Steem?

Of course, you can still earn Steem with DrugWars upvotes, we keep the share system and will improve it to make it more interesting for delegators and obviously for FUTURE holders!

Why this change was needed?

The sustainability of the game was one of the motive for this change and to reduce the cost of each items, buildings, and units in Drugwars. Above that, other revenue streams are coming but the motivation to tokenize the game was primary to us. Furthermore we are taking another step forward in the tokenization of all of our active and upcoming projects that you can find here by introducing the FUTURE token in every applications under Futureshock.

How can this game not be sustainable? The drugs produced and invested into HEIST is like drugs burned because only a portion of it is converted into steem. The daily rewards decays dramatically each day then enters the battle. Drug production is the life of the game and it has to be spent no matter what say upgrade, recruit, invest and so on. Good luck if Steemians will love your token.

Don't like the switch to another token. Seems I got caught in a bait and switch play grown from a failing ponzi scheme. Oh well. Best of luck with the switch. Well this is a surprise! Not that its coming to an end, because lets be honest, the steem blockchain has been the last one to get up to date with dapps. Its good not to stick to just one chain because then you will see and learn that there have been many games like this with a ponzi scheme design and the last one being Tron Goo.

Its that grey area of moral's it seems in the dev world. The dev of this game commented to me in the intro post that he was aware of the tron network, so it was obvious that he knew where it would lead to..

This is the one thing getting worse in the crypto world, people who know better, not warning others of ponzi scheme setups that are existing.

Making a great product or service makes customers happy, but fixing mistakes the right way has been proven to impress customers even more: a good solution offered for a mistake made gains any brand the most loyal customers.

I do believe acknowledging a mistake has been made and compensating the early players would be the best thing to do at this point. The team has been trying to fix the economics of the game a few times now, always with a last-minute notice, and the fixes have failed.

It's okay to make mistakes, it would be better to make up for them - compensate players, relaunch the came with a clear explanation of the 'new' economics (STEEM vs FUTURE), and let people choose if they want to step in this relaunch of the game.

I think many would choose to do so if they had the choice to step in a relaunch of the game and understand what they would get into. I also believe in the current situation most will leave thanks to this exact lack of choice and lingering feelings of disappointment.

Thanks for reading and taking this into consideration, because I have no doubt the team is willing to create something amazing for Steem. I'm just asking to consider starting over and this time doing it right from the (re-)start. Take the losses yourself and accept it was 'learning money'. Start fresh and make us all want to promote the game again :-)

Having the opportunity to get the Steem Community on your side is the biggest feature of launching anything on Steem right now - they can be the biggest shills if you allow them to be. Reading the messages above I believe the community can also be the single reason any game or dApp fails.

I think it was perfectly clear to everyone from the beginning that this was a Ponzi scheme. Just like all Ponzi schemes they must come to an end. This one is no different. They all have an exit strategy even though this was not the exit strategy that I expected, I knew there would have to be one. Run away with the steem and throw us a worthless token as a constellation prize. I get it. I hope no one expects this token to go up in value. Being introduced this way is completely unethical and it will surely fail. Time to stop playing now.

You guys... Youve fucked up really bad i just hope you can get out of it. Its because you dont think. You dont think and neither do people that "invest" in the game.

You rushed the product. You liked the money so you didnt stop the hype and now youve pissed off a lot of people. If those people werent smart enough not to invest so much money in a game they didnt understand, do you really think that after this shitstorm they will be smart enough to figure out if you actually do anything good? No. The hate train has left the station and its filled with these guys. The same folks that were partying on the hype train few weeks ago.

This is a cautionary tale for everyone involved. The devs should learn to be cautious about when and how they launch the game. Have their economy figured out and not do stuff as they go. Some strategy needs to be involved.

The "investors" should research whatever they are getting into and not FOMO in without thinking. Thats the first rule of crypto. ALWAYS RESEARCH WHAT YOU ARE CONSIDERING PUTING YOUR MONEY IN.

At least I got back what I spent. People like me need real money and even crypto is a far away promise thanks to our 'you know whos '. I understand that the word drug would not be accepted in exchange but I dont think the players were expecting any coin or such things from a game, just fun and some return of investment. It would be a scam unless the people get back what they put in, otherwise this will certainly see a backlash not only for DW but also for steemit.

This is some bs that I saw coming I knew you guys couldn’t keep up with the payments. You are using the pool to “create value” in a bs token you created out of thin air. Why don’t you guys use all the Steem you guys earned to “create value” for your FUTURE tokens. I stopped investing any Steem long time ago because I saw all the bs going on. You guys couldn’t get it right from day 1. You should refund all players who are still negative and start over from scratch with your Future tokens. I only put 50 Steem and got over half back already, I put what I was willing to lose and could chalk it up as a loss but I bet others that spent a lot of Steem will not be too happy with this situation. Do what’s right and pay these people back specially whoever invested in the past couple weeks. You guys should stop taking any Steem for any upgrades anymore if this is the case.

You guys took a shit load of Steem already and are trying to print your own token that at this point I am pretty sure you guys will get a shit load yourselves and force players that are invested to support your future tokens because they are already invested in the game giving your tokens value and putting more money in your pockets. Do what’s right square off all players negative balance then switch over to FUTURE tokens.

This is why you start off with a testrun before taking everyones Steem. You guys had it in your logo play DrugWars earn Steem not Future.

Your tagline is "The drugs and guns are virtual, but the money is real". Are you changing that too? Because while tokenization is fun, the value of the Future Token is less real than STEEM, at least it is less real at the moment.

Look, there's nothing wrong with introducing the Future Token into the game, but keep in mind that no one paid STEEM to buy your tokens, at least not yet. Players were spending STEEM because they expected returns in STEEM, not Future Tokens. This might change in the future and your Tokens might eventually create more demand than STEEM, but that's not the case right now. Changing the rules so abruptly, with nothing but a 48hour notice just destroys trust. It looks like you just want to force your tokens on us. Instead, give players time to recover their STEEM. Maybe 30 days? Or at the very least give us a 2-week notice. This way, players who don't want your tokens can exit properly with no hard feelings.

Or as @blog-beginner mentioned below, you can always roll out Future Tokens gradually. Replace Referral Rewards, first. Then move on to Daily Rewards. And finally, replace Heist Rewards. Do it over the course of a month. This way, you're not shocking your players into submission. Or was that your goal?

Personally, I'm already in ROI so I'm not going to end up at a loss with this change. But, this is going to affect a large segment of your players. Frankly, I don't think anyone expected the STEEM rewards to go on forever, but no one expected it to end so abruptly either.

My point is, I'm not against tokenization. But the way you're doing it is just disappointing, at best. Worst case is, as several users have pointed out below, you look like you're trying to run away with the community's STEEM. Whether that's true or not doesn't really matter. But that's what it looks like.

You're the #1 or #2 DApp on Steem at the moment, but you're working really hard to change that.

I never put a single penny into this game or played this game and I can see that investors/players are getting completely screwed over by this nonsense.

This is precisely how to NOT fix your revenue problems - by fleecing the people who are actually putting their own money into the game.

I’m going to make a prediction here:

Your revenue problems will quickly get much worse and will persist until you have to shut down this game/project.

That’s what happens when you scam people out of their money, which you are absolutely doing here. Giving them worthless shittokens to try to avoid massive backlash as you steal their money is about as dumb as launching a half-assed game in the first place.

So much for decentralized gaming. What's running the game on a blockchain good for if the makers of the game just decide to change the rules entirely and basically devalue all bought virtual assets.

In addition, communication of this change is really poor. Why don't they at least keep the current pool until it's empty and add the token step by step? And they try to sell it as an improvement!!

This is a very bad sign not only for the players of Drugwars but for the entire blockchain gaming community. Drugwars is one of the biggest games in the space (yeah, I know...) so they should be more conscious about making changes.

Hold up. You went and change the rewards from steem to future. Shouldn't we get our full refund, minus what rewards that game paid out, if we who paid in want it? I'm not sure I'm going to support the future token. This feels like a bait and switch.

Introducing your own token is probably a good strategic move for drug wars. However I think its not a good idea to introduce it in a big bang fashion. Taking away all the rewards overnight isn't a good idea. How about you substitute FUTURE tokens for referral rewards first, then heist rewards and Drug production rewards the next. This will give you enough time to prove the usability of the new token and the users also to gain confidence in your token. With big bang approach you are going to lose a big user base all at once. Reconsider the decision please.

If I understand this right you are taking the whole remaining pot and dividing it up depending on how much someone invested in?

That could work but you should probably pro rate it for fairness.

For example anyone despositing steem today 100% refund. For each day take off a % because people were allowed to play and get money back versus the guy who just spent 1000 steem today.

If that is how you are going to do it, then I can see it being the most fair way to move forward with changes you feel are necessary and avoid scam and fraud claims.

Sometime in the FUTURE you'll be able to cash out...but not now. Right now you're stuck playing a barely playable "game" that just completely changed what they're doing with the money that a ton of people put in thinking that they would likely get it back. Instead they get paid back in some currency that they can use to buy more shitty shit in the game that's barely a game.

You probably could have actually worked on a ton of extra features to make the game more fun and make people want to put in more money which would have less people freaking out now...but nah...instead we'll just have a barely working "game" that changes the rules and stops paying people out from a pool that will now suddenly be converted into another token.

Every update makes me lose more faith in your capabilities to make an even remotely intelligent decision.

Another way to put it, someone who say just bought 500 steem worth of assets today just had it taken as the rules changed?

Are they going to get x amount of future tokens they can at least immediately sell off for some money back? Or did you really just pull one over on us?

I must have missed a ton of memos here, because I've always played the game since I find it fun. Did I just buy a whole bunch of upgrades only to lose my progress? I'm not sure why the emphasis on tokenization, but it seems like everybody's doing it, so ... You guys are too?

I don't know what you call a working system but voting is not a working system. When sharing, it creates a post with high beneficiaries and then doesn't even guarentee a vote. You take 35% cut from the auto votes casted on that post without voting on it.

you can still earn Steem with DrugWars upvotes, we keep the share system and will improve it to make it more interesting for delegators and obviously for FUTURE holders!

I SEE THE FUTURE !!!!! but seriously ... need to explain more about what FUTURE tokens is. Like how much token will be issued , where is it tradable .... so much questions about this FUTURE token.

Can't just just launch a "TOKEN" and not give information about it. Good move .. but need more info . .. cheers guys

Although this raises a lot of questions, I think this was a great move for the future of your development and a necessary decision to keep things moving forward. The "value" of the token will be determined by the market but I know I will be holding mine to see what you guys come up with next. Looking forward to how this token will change the economics of the game. All in all, always happy to see things moving forward when it comes to decentralized applications, it is a learning experience for all of us.

Why do you tell us just 48 before? Were this tokens rewards initialy in the game roadmap? Why we are read about them just now? It will be better if you are at first time will make transition option(if you so want to organize Future tokens) , when the first time people get a return in tokens and in Steem Until the token exchange process is not organized.

If you're creating the Future token on Steem Engine I thought they just natively listed all the coins created through the platform on the exchange so why would there be any delay from creating Future to being able to exchange them for Steem?

Shame. It was good fun and a good way to supplement my Steem earnings now that my investment has nearly paid for itself. Tokenizing should probably have waited longer with a greater emphasis on the game itself. Oh well.

I feel the exchangeability to Steem needs to be able to happen as you implement the change to the Future token. The whole reason I play the game is because I get paid out in Steem, kind of the whole draw of it in my opinion.

Not sure where does the FUTURE tokens value come from... Why anybody would like to buy them from us? Probably for in-game purchases but I would love to see more usage for them.

Maybe use them to buy (small) ads on drugwars.io (like post promotion at the bottom of the webiste etc.) I guess that profit sharing for token holders is out of question?
