Collateral damage

pop.JPG

It wasn't long ago when the world was "in lockdown" because of the flu and one of the major priorities of governments and the World Health Organisation was educating people on how to "stay safe," the main focus being around hygiene. That's right, the authorities had to explain to people how to use good hygiene practices like washing hands after using the washroom and being covering mouths when coughing and sneezing. People had to be told that it was best practice to wash hands.

There's some disgusting people out there so I guess a little education around better hygiene is always welcome.

I read recently that only about 70% of people always wash their hands after using the bathroom.

That's a frightening statistic right? Imagine all the things people touch, the hands they shake, door handles they use and so on...and without washing their hands after wiping the asses. Fucken hell y'all! Anyway, that's a whole other matter, serious though it is...this post is about sneezing.

For a long time I've had a thing about sneezing, meaning it gives me the creeps.

To clarify though, it's not the act of sneezing itself, it's about when people sneeze but don't cover their mouth, *sneeze into a tissue. It fucken drives me nuts! You know what I mean right? You're in a room and someone let's out a massive sneeze with snot and spit, some 40,000 fine droplets containing respiratory pathogens, exploding into the air only to be inhaled by you...yep you, and every other poor fucker who happens to be within range.

If the thought of that doesn't make you cringe, you're bonkers.

Here's a slow motion video of sneezing and the extent of collateral damage

***

Have you ever witnessed poor hygiene habits like failure to wash hands or cover mouths during coughing or sneezing in the office or in public? Have you ever thought that whatever you touch could be covered in shit that has transferred from someone's hand who didn't wash them or had just sneezed into it? There's a trail of shit, snot and saliva that reaches far and wide you know...it's...well, it's fucken shit is what it is!

The pandemic changed us. There are those who have been traumatized by the diseases. It is a fact that many people died who would have been alive if it had not been for COVID. Even very young people.

Hygiene is health, a simple rule that not everyone follows.

I had a neighbor who would blow his nose directly with his hands and then "wipe" his hands on the wall. Many times I called his attention, but he never paid attention. Luckily for me, he moved away.

Hi Galen; as I am a bit late, I have been reading the comments and I agree very much with avdesing. I think that as in many facets of life, there is a lack of education and respect for other people. Greetings.

Oooh gag! The world is a disgusting place. If you actually think about it, we just aren't safe at all. We can do everything within our power to remain healthy, but unless you live in a bubble, you're going to be touching things that a thousand other people have handled before you. I don't know what the stats are for those who don't wash regularly, but odds are, it's greater than we'd like.

Isn't it the job of parents and child rearers to instruct the young on sanitation and disease prevention?....leave it to the government to think they're doing an even half-assed job. lol, now where the hell did I leave my bubble??

I wash my had everytime I go to bathroom and even I am keeping napkin on my month while coughing or sneezing. Thanks for sharing this sir !

When we are camping and we visit the facilities we often see people that just walk right out and don't bother washing their hands. I know you were in that stall for at least ten minutes buddy... There is no way you don't need to be washing your hands! It's definitely gross. Working in a school I tend to pick up all kinds of germs through the day. I have gotten in the habit of using hand sanitizer before I sit down at my desk anytime I return to my office. It's not fool proof, but it helps.

  • @avdesing(80)· 658d

Yes, there are people with bad habits and I don't like that at all, and not only the ones you mention but more, that maybe are not so invasive but they bother me, eating with the mouth open and others that are more disgusting.

I think a lot of it depends on education and respect for others... if there were those two components we wouldn't have to put up with such things.

There are some very dirty people!

A bloody nice train of thoughts you've planted in my head this early morning 🙂😭😭

  • @grindle(79)· 658d

I must be honest, I rarely wash my hands in anything but luke warm water, why would I want to damage the ecosystem on my skin, most of the bacteria there form part of my bodies defence system, yet the sheeple during the scamdemic rushed to apply hand sanitiser slathering it all over? why? that was a fucking false flag! and don;t get me started on the fucking stupid wearing of face nappies.

Travelling a lot through the world's wastelands, I always laugh at my fellow travellers who still at every opportunity slather ani bac juice over their hands when they enter a restaurant? why? that ain't gonna protect you from the bugs on the chef's hands who has just had a drain blocking dump and gone straight back to the kitchen.

There are some dumb fuckers about

  • @deirdyweirdy(72)· 658d

That's one of the reasons I rarely eat out! In my country that sort of thing will be a jailable offence. Every bathroom door will have a sensor and if you haven't washed your hands you won't get out.

  • @meesterboom(81)· 658d

I see it all the time. You are washing your hands and someone breezes out of a cubicle and straight out the door. Fucking horrifying!

  • @jacobtothe(77)· 659d

I wash my hands, and I sneeze into my sleeve or a tissue. I also work in a library. The restroom shares a wall with the office.

    We know.

    And we are horrified.

  • @videoaddiction(72)· 659d

I still see people not washing their hands after WC, and this is disgusting. I do not care their health, but this might affect our health as well.
