Hello, World!

I'm Gandalf. That's not my real name, but even my mom saved my number as Gandalf in her phone contact list. That counts, right? I'm an IT Wizard, system admin, happily married, owner of a cat. Owned by a cat.

Nyunya

Nyunya (The Cat) wants to watch everything I do, that's just her way of lending a helping paw. I’m not sure if she is so fascinated by what I do or she wants to make sure I do it right.

Why am I here? What is my motivation? Not much different from that guiding my cat: Curiosity and to be a witness (node?) of what is emerging here.

May the STEEM be with you!

Hello, @gtg With respect. I found something interesting and a bit confusing about your post. When I check it on the Hive blockchain through hive.blog, it shows as being around 10 years old. However, when I view it on hivepostify.cloud, it says it’s from 9 years ago.

At the same time, if we consider Hive’s official creation date, it is March 20, 2020. As of today (30/03/2026), that makes Hive about 6 to 7 years old. But your post seems to be 9 to 10 years old, which confuses me.

I know that Hive was created after Steem. My question is: was there a snapshot taken from Steem that continued on Hive with a new name, or is there another reason for this difference in dates? I would really appreciate your clarification on this.

I am genuinely interested in learning. I have only been on Hive for about a year, but I want to understand things properly and in depth. Based on my observation, this might be one of your earliest posts, although I am not completely sure yet.

Actually, I am building a tool that will help display old posts, especially to identify the first posts of accounts. That’s why I am studying content from experienced and respected users like you. Reading your older posts helps me learn new things and gain a better understanding.

It’s also possible that the dates shown by Google or different platforms are not fully accurate, which is why I want to verify everything correctly.

Honestly, based on the tone of your post, my natural reply would be ‘Welcome to Hive.’ But since you are clearly a long-time and experienced user, that would be quite funny!

I hope you don’t mind my questions. I understand you might be busy, and I usually don’t reach out like this, but I will be waiting for your reply.

I truly want to learn from experienced and respected members like you who have helped grow this community.

    Hello @gtg :)

This is a beautiful cat. Does this little bell it has on its neck not bother the cat, or the owners? ;) I am the cat person myself.

I hope to see more of your private, non-witness posts in the future, maybe from @gandalf account.

    All the best to you.
