Enough is ENOUGH! - Open Letter To All The Beggars.

Beggars, GTFO!

The world is not fair and I feel sorry for people who cannot afford to eat. I feel sorry for people living on the streets without roof over their heads. I feel for all of them...

Here's the thing though...

I am not rich. I can barely afford my own living expenses. I am a student. I am not eligible more student aid, so I need to finance my education by my own two hands. I haven't bought my asthma medicine in about a year because I feel it's too expensive...

Wanna hear more?

  • I can do this for an hour or two, no problem.

I lost my father in late December 2012. He was my role model and he died in front of me, at home. Out of nowhere. He just collapsed. His heart stopped beating. I wasn't capable of reviving him. I couldn't do a single shit about it. He literally died in my arms. I blamed myself for years and due to that and a handful of others things I'm not so proud of, I have suffered from panic attacks, anxiety and depression ever since. It's a never-ending battle.

Each day is a struggle.

I live in Sweden, or what some would call Swedistan due to our politics. I have never got any help, even though our country is "oh so wonderful". The system is corrupt and I can blame others for all the faults and misery in my life, but it gives me nothing.

I haven't made any calculations but I would probably need about 800 STEEM per week to afford everything I need to pay at these prices...

Do I beg?

  • No.

Do I buy votes for hundreds of STEEM per day?

  • No.

Do I send mass messages on Discord or memos on STEEM asking for donations and upvotes?

  • No.

I still help others. I still focus on redfish in an attempt to grow our middle class on STEEM. I still give even though I could easily keep everything for myself, sell all my votes and behave like a greedy, selfish little bitch that so many others are doing. But I don't, because I think it's wrong.

My situation is better than others, but it's also worse than others at the same time. Just like your situation, depending on who you compare with. I have been tossed around like a piece of paper between this and that for years. I tried to get help for my mental illness and I had to wait for more than a year before I actually got to see someone...

They gave me a bunch of prescriptions for pills I couldn't afford to buy. Fast-forward a year or two, and I wanted to study. I sent my application and got rejected because I had studied before. So, I couldn't get a new degree due to a previous one...

I appealed, I sent letters, I called. I talked to dozens of people and I still got the same answer.

It wasn't until I called the principal from another School directly, that I got to talk with someone about my situation. A nurse-education, that's what I study right now. A nurse/assistant nurse-education with focus on psychiatry, but it's not the end of the line for me.

I want to help people who suffers from mental illness. I want to be the help I never had. I want to make it easier for others. If I can help one single person to live their life to the fullest, I will have completed my mission. - That's my goal in life...

I work part time, as often as I can, which isn't much due to the full time studies. I help my grandmother and my mother. Both financially and practically... In between all of that, I spend time on STEEM and I spend time talking with randoms on Discord. I educate others. I try to inspire, motivate and encourage others... And, I play video games too, to get some time for myself. I need some "me" time.

The thing is, that I need to prioritize, just like you. I continue to learn each day, but I have come a long way so far. My time is limited. I can't do everything at the same time, so I need to prioritize. Whenever I spend time on you, in an attempt to educate you on Discord, I prioritize you over other things. - And you end a long discussion with "can you give me money?"

  • FUCK YOU.

First off, I want to thank you for all you do @hitmeasap. I understand your feelings on mental illness, I'm there with you. It took too long to get the proper help. Thankfully, I have learned a few things that have helped. If you ever need anything pls don't hesitate to ask. I tell really bad jokes. I'm sure I can find a meme or a giphy to go along.

Second, way to go!! How dare anyone beg for money. Most of us work hard to get where we are. We still have jobs, families, school that take priority, so for some loser who is too lazy to what needs to be done needs to do exactly what you said GTFO! Go leech off of a whale, if you can. I'm sure TMM and BS would love your for it. (sarcasm)

I van only say you are right. Here nobody asked me for money, I do help others if I can here, but if it comes to real life...

I am Dutch and pay and pay but help for me (us) there isn't.

Perhaps the country is rich but I can hardly pay the rent. My first concern and responsibility are my kids not keeping strangers alive not willing to work and invest themselves.

I also gave upon my meds, same with my kid because of money issues (food is more important).

I hope those who ask you for money will start paying you back now! It sounds more like scam as being poor for real.

I learned scamming and begging is a profession, a very easy way to make a living by manipulating people. Don't buy these stories.

Really poor people do not beg, they suffer alone and keeping up appearances.

I wish you ☘ and 💖 and 💰 you need.

I respect you for whatever you do and the way you handle your situation @hitmeasap. I got the message on discord from those who I interact with on his post and asked for money to buy food. Not once though, but I told him that I don't have money to share because all steem I have I use it to power up and with that tiny power I'll support him through by upvote the post.

I can feel you and why you throw this kind of post 😃 you need to draw a line about it. I'm so proud of you for sharing this with us and I'm so sorry about your father too.

I wish that you would be a good nurse and help more people in The real life. Steemit taught me about there's no such "a beautiful or rich perfect country" in the world like it said in the magazines 😀.

I can see you have passion for gambling. I would like to recommend you a new site called MoonSTEEM (https://moonsteem.com), a provably fair crash game where you can multiply your STEEMs. There is also a possibility to earn special tokens by betting which are then used to redistribute earnings. I would be very pleased if you give this game a chance. ;)

  • @curatorcat(72)· 2686d

I appreciate you sharing your story, especially since nobody actually knows what anyone has been through, regardless of what their superficial appearance might suggest.

I don't like the beggars and greedmongers, either.

I recognize that in some parts of the world begging, stealing and cheating are not held in as negative a light as here in the west, but still.

You do more for Steem than almost anyone else I have encountered here. So you EARNED that "Fuck You!"

    =^..^=

It is tough indeed as we try to add value in different ways. I prefer to add value on chain and limit there. Also, a great way is to do it in a way that encourages engagement as it builds value.

I couldn't agree more... that's why I moved to WeKu. No bot wars, no flag wars, no beggars, just a supportive community.

  • @abitcoinskeptic(75)· 2687d

People need to learn the difference between relative and absolute poverty. If you can afford to use the luxury of the Internet, you probably aren't faced with absolute poverty. It doesn't mean you don't require more money, most people do. It means that government and community programs are responsible, not the random Internet world.

  • @skramatters(67)· 2687d

Thanks for sharing this and getting it out. That’s a painful experience to have gone through with your father. I sincerely appreciate your honesty and ability to be both empowered and vulnerable all in the same stream of consciousness.

Sometimes a fuck you needs to be given and heard. Please take it easy, play video games, and do what you enjoy. You’re a kind, generous, and genuine human and we need more of those.

This is a big part of why I am not interested in being on Discord.
