Tried my sewing skills after years to repair my baby Onesies.

I was checking my baby's drawer the previous days, as segregating clothes that no longer fit him is a must. The portion of his stuff should be spacious, as I recently bought some, which is why I decided to declutter. Indeed, babies are like balloons that suddenly grow bigger in the blink of an eye. Onesies and newborn clothes? Sadly, I found a few pieces that are still unused. Nope, not that I haven't seen it, just I thought it was still too big for him 🤣. Yet, when I tried it, gosh, it no longer fits 🤣.

I kept it all in a frosted zip lock so it would be easy to find it, just in case I will be needing it again. I still wanted to have another baby, perhaps a little girl that I could dress up. However, after what I have been through, I am not sure if I can make it again. So, for now, this will be kept in the corner of our closet, not unless @ruffatotmeee decides to have a baby. LOL, will gladly send it to her; just hit the DM in case, Ruffa girl 😆.

Among the pile of clothes, I found these onesies. Then I remembered that all were unused. Thus, all are long sleeves, which are inappropriate for the weather here in my country. Well, I didn't purchase these as they were passed down by my sister-in-law. She lives in Canada, which explains why. Well, it is okay to use if our house has an air conditioner, but sadly, I haven't purchased them yet.

So, in order for my baby to be used, a few repairs were needed.

Starting with this one as I find it cute, cut the sleeves.

It is more comfortable for him.

Sewing? I haven't tried it for years, so I didn't have scissors for it. It could be something sharp, so use a cutter.

Now, what is needed is a running stitch on both sides.

It's a good thing I have this. Actually, everyone should have it. You can't just borrow from neighbors, right? Our mother raised us not to.

It's been a while, but at some point, it tangled 🤣. Maintaining the straight line and the gaps wasn't that easy.

A few more strokes, and I managed!

It's not as good as the sewing machine stitch, but at least okay. Sewing this took me a day or three. Nope, not because it was that hard, but just doing it in my free time. (When the baby was asleep, and I was done with household chores.)

Here is the finished product. My baby was comfortable wearing it the other night.

Just one done and three more to go.

It's really a wonderful thing how babies grow so big before you even know it. It's great that your 'convertible' fitted perfectly well. Nice job.

Your baby is so pretty. Your sewing skills have definitely not left. You still have them considering the fact that you were able to sew these onesies perfectly using hand

We are sure your baby enjoyed the warmth the repurposed Onesies gave him. You recreated this with love and we admire that. Well done.

  • @glorydee(74)· 729d

Your baby is so adorable, I know right, they grow so fast, good of you to make his onesie comfortable as regards the weather.

I agree with you, everyone needs a basic sewing tool at home, they come in handy for easy amendment.

  • @monica-ene(79)· 730d

I understand that thing with babies growing really fast leaving all the clothes we purchase for them but the good thing is that we can always pass down babies clothes either fo our next baby or to a friend. It's more perfect that you can transform some of these for use and it looks good on your baby cheers.💕
