Today I was checking social media and found out about the breakup of this wonderful duo, Jessy and Joy. One of their songs released after their split was “¿Con quién se queda el perro?” (Who Gets the Dog?), which refers to the fact that it’s their breakup, and “the dog” is literally us, the audience—hahaha—we have to choose a side.
But let’s talk about this beautiful song, “¿Con quién se queda el perro?” which they released on November 6, 2011. Haciendo referencia a que es la separación de ellos dos y el perro somos nosotros el público literal jajaja debemos escoger un lado.
Pero hablaremos de esta hermosa canción "¿Con quién se queda el perro?" que lanzaron el 6 de noviembre del 2011, Jessy y Joy son mexicanos, hermanos, lo cual tenian mucha trayectoria juntos, hasta ahora fue que se dió a conocer esta noticia de su separación, es por ello que asemejan la canción con este suceso, ya que trata de la separación de una pareja, dónde empiezan a repartir sus bienes materiales pero se fijan que tienen un perro en común y es donde se complica la situación.

I have a few notes on my favorite parts, such as the part where it says, “I know there’s no turning back this time,” implying that the decisions have already been made and breaking up is the only solution, and the other part where it says, “If you leave and I leave, who gets the dog?” It refers to the idea that if everything is over and they divide up their material possessions, what would they do with their pet—who would get custody? This line is what I was telling you about: they’re drawing a parallel between their breakup as a duo and us—we’re the dog who has to pick a side, haha. I know it sounds bad; I’m a fan of Joy, so I don’t know which side you’re on.

Está canción fue escrita por Tomas Torres, Jessy y Joy, tengo algunas acotaciones de mis partes favoritas, como por ejemplo, la parte donde dice "se que está vez no hay marcha atrás" dando entender que ya las decisiones están tomadas y la separación es la única solución y la otra parte donde dice "si tú te vas y yo me voy, ¿Con quién se queda el perro?", se refiere a que si todo se terminó y se reparten los bienes materiales, como harían con su mascota, quien tendría la custodia, está frase es la que les comentaba que hacen ahora una similitud de su separación como duo y nosotros somos el perro que debemos escoger un lado jaja se que suena mal, yo soy fans de Joy la chica así que no se cuál es el suyo.
