***What Friendship means to me?*** My life is majorly surrounded by my friends. I have a very small family, and when I say family it also means my extended family. We are just a handful of cousins and everyone stays far from each other. In Mumbai and Muscat cities where my life is currently divided I do not have any family members, so my whole life revolves around my friends. In Mumbai from my hubby's side there are a couple of cousins and they are too elder to us, we have never been able to connect much except for some family gatherings and we have always been at a distance.

Friendship means a lot to me and with God's grace I have some very genuine friends and that too in abundance. These are my friends from a very long time. When it comes to making new friends I am not very good at it at this stage of life. I don't know how this change has happened to me. Before I could easily make friends but now it is not that easy for me. Probably because my plate is very full and I do not find a need to make new friends. I am happy with my circle and possibly that brings a barrier to me.

For my friends, I will do anything if they need me. I have no reservations in helping them in anyway in time of their need and I know that the feeling is mutual, which I have already experienced couple of times in my life. Out family is given to us from birth, we have no control over that, we do not choose them, but our friends are our choice and entirely in our control. Hence, this relationship becomes very special because these are the people who we genuinely connect from the heart, mind and soul. We just do not get friendly with random people, we only become friends with someone if we connect from the heart and that's what makes it very special. Our believe that our friends are our soul sisters and brothers who come together in this life to support us in our hour of need.

***One worn-out thing I cannot part with?*** I have a dress of my school days, which means it is a 35 years old dress. My dad had got it stitched for me or a special occasion and I was very much in love with it. It was not an expensive or a fancy dress. A very simple one, but still there was some magic about this dress and I loved to wear it a lot. The first time I had worn on our New Year day and the second time I had worn it for a school award function, and this memory is very strongly etched in my heart. It was a cash prize I had received for topping in the subject of Maths and I was very happy and my dad was super proud of me. That moment has been forever captured in my heart in that dress and I am not able to part ways with it. The best part is that it fits me now also, I have not changed much in my physical structure over the years. I wore it for many years and since the last 10 years I have worn it just 2 to 3 times, but I will not discard it.

Hubby makes fun of me on this dress. I have told him that it should be discarded only when I am gone forever. I have a very strong emotional connection with this dress and a beautiful memory with my dad attached to it which does not allow me to part ways with it.

If you are satisfied with your circle, just stick to that. They will give you the support and peace you need. If there is any need to add more members to the circle, it will come naturally and your team will see the need. That's how you differentiate good friends from the bad ones when considering the future.
