Sounds like you guys are a lot like a couple of American friends I got to know from Chicago whilst I was travelling years ago. They ended up moving far away from the politics of the USA and started over in Bolivia. They’ve built a house in the jungle, became self sufficient and also work mostly online and travel still as photographers.
Two years ago I looked into travelling there because we were staying in a Mexican resort on the Caribbean side. Maybe I could fly there? Get a hire car until I realised it would be a little bit complex as a British traveller. I was determined talked about it with my wife and the friends we were travelling with.
So it never happened!
Anyway that was a long way of getting to my point, I bet they have similar challenges as they’re in a similar kind of place.
Which sounds beautiful! Mosquitoes not so!
