Hey, Where's The Cool Peeps At?

I just checked HiveBuzz and would you know it, I've been around for five whole years on Hive. A lot has happened in my real life in that time - some crazy things, some sad things, some mundane things, and some exciting adventures. Some things I've told you about. Some I've kept private.

When you've been here for a while, you learn to create gaps between yourself and the platform. It's not because I love it any less, or am any less dedicated to it, it's just because it's not healthy to stare at the screen so much. I realised it was really disturbing my nervous system.

Consequently, I'm guilty sometimes of checking my favourites lists - the friends I've known here forever, and my favourite writers, and of course the posts in Hive Garden, the community I've taken on as a responsibility and a passion. I vote what I can, comment on a minimum of five, sometimes more, and then off I go and enjoy space offline.

This means I've not been following as many new people as I'd really like to. I've always been a big supporter of the underdog here, willing to lend them a hand through upvoting, tips, reblogs and general engaging, but I feel I've reached a point that I can't recall the last person that was new in my feed!

So, this post is a little plea for you to tell me in the comments who you've followed recently that you think is pretty cool and worth supporting. Chances are I might be already following them, but who knows?

For some reason this prospect really thrills me. I love this place and the people I meet here.

I really do.

And I love you too.

With Love,

We’re creeping up on 6 years Riv! Where has the time gone?! You’re 2 or 3 months older than I am :D but it’s wild indeed! I have certainly enjoyed my time off the platform because we all need to have varying things in life to keep things fresh and fun. I’m glad that others are out there such as yourself and a number of people in the comments thirsting to find someone new. I’ll be giving these recommendations a look!

I've found myself in the same boat, and I'm trying to get back into Hive (posting, commenting, finding cool people.) It's good for the soul to take time off from the web. I can't really help with your search, but I'll lurk here to find new people to follow. :)

I'm in a similar rut on hive. Any more seems like too much. I check out #wednesdaywalk sometimes looking for fresh posts.

I think you are one of those we could run to anytime we have a problem on here It seem you know so much about Hive and you have even spent up to five years here

I'm somewhat in the same boat. I write my daily post, comment on a few people who jump out at me from my follow list, and then get on with life offline. Going to work, in other words. Blockchain Poets is probably the only place I am meeting a lot of new people.

    Greetings

It'll be awesome if you can check out the @newbies-hive initiative account that's focus in equipping new users about the nitty gritty of hive, author like @aunty-tosin @seunnara @debby-cwm are those I recently followed and I realized they shares quality content.

Since you are looking for newbies to support, I suggest you check out @newbies-hive, a program for training and supporting newbies on Hive. They have quite some newbies they are presently tutoring, you could check them out. Also you can follow their curation trail here: https://hive.vote/dash.php?i=15&id=1&user=newbies-hive

it would be great for you to checkout these newbies, @creativepearl and @lizizoo they are great creatives.

  • @steevc(80)· 1056d

You have to find your crowd on Hive. Communities ought to be good for that, but we don't have them for all interests. I have created several for things I'm into including whisky and drumming. I also do #followfriday posts where I mention cool people I find. Hive lacks discovery tools, so it's up to users to help with that.

    Have fun.

You can check out @steevc and his @tenkminnows project as he follows good newbies and under dogs.

My niece @kathrynkw joined recently (finally I managed to onboard someone!!) but she's not very very active yet as she has two toddlers that keeps her very busy.

Where have all the cool peeps gone?

I think they are taking a break. It seems like IRL is taking a toll.
