It hardly ever happens and when it does, what you get generally is a pile of crap.
Drive-bys... and I don't mean the type where we get the Tommy guns out and mercilessly spray people walking down the sidewalk with bullets.
Here we don’t have ‘sidewalks’; they are called pavements and in Anglesey, Wales they are a rare sight.
Outside of the towns, it's not populous, so there is little reason to create pavements.
"Tŷ Buarth" just happened upon us as we drove back from Holyhead, on the side of a major road without a pavement. That's right; you open your door, exit through the now..., non-existent gate and you can get ploughed down by a stray eighteen-wheeler.
Not such a child-friendly house you may think, but children did live here once as we would soon discover.
On one side of this dilapidated property, people were present so we chose the other side, luckily for us,… the side with no glass in the windows.
When there's a huge boulder stationed right next to one, it's a huge boon and a welcome climbing aid. Getting in was a struggle which involved a kind of leap and pull-yourself-up strategy.
Not great for me being a comparative fat bastard but as @anidiotexplores was already inside and giving me ‘Oooohs’ and ‘Aaaah', I knew this was not some boring shithole like many are.
Yes, there was some gear inside, but not something to blow your load over. Who takes exercise gear with them?... these are about as desirable as Canon CX engine double-tray laser printers from the late eighties.
Over there and to the left, people were present. You might think it looks like a wilderness but the view is deceptive. We had to be quiet, lest they hear us and attack with pitchforks while screaming unintelligible Welsh obscenities.
Opening those drawers could result in us catching something, they looked glued together maybe with ancient body fluids.
Open drawers mean rifled through… again. One day we may come across an untouched wonder with genuine closed drawers.
The kitchen window seems uncomfortable small, maybe it’s just me. I like my daylight and living here appears to suit Vampires more than Humans.
You won't be smiling when you see what's up here @anidiotexplores; a whole lot of nothing. This was one of those 'everything is downstairs' types of explores.
The stairs were deceptive, being almost normal until you reached the top, yet kind of bendy. After that, there was little to stand on, besides fresh air.
"Tŷ Buarth" for the most part had little to offer besides one room which contained some children's goodies left behind. The poor mite lost all his stuff, and it's mostly gone rotten now.
@anidiotexplores had seen enough and was exiting as I pondered the 'slightly more interesting’ room. As you can see, he’s immune to glass and could probably stick a chunk up his arse and nothing would happen.
1987 and 1988; not exactly vintage depending on your age., but still over 35 years old.
Sadly, Thomas is never going to get from station to station running his engine on those extra rusty tracks. How could they leave ‘Thomas’ behind?
1987 again, they all fit within the same age category. I don’t believe "Tŷ Buarth" has been sitting here empty for that amount of time. It’s on a major trunk road, not the back of beyond.
If the contents were intact, then there would have been likely worth a penny or two. The packaging would have protected the die-cast replicas. Not that I am interested in thieving such items.
Davy does not look very magic to me, just wet and ragged.
The front door; no chance. That is not usually the way into abandoned properties.
Have we got the name correct, what do you think? 'Tun' does not appear to translate to anything? Don't stare too hard, it will mess with your eyes.
"Tŷ Buarth" translates to "Barn House" in English (literally "House Barn"). @grindle is likely to correct me if not.
Not wonderful, but a wonderful exploring day with just one more to come from Anglesey. Then we are mostly back to the derps, shit-holes and crack houses. Lovely stuff!
