Sublime and Beautiful Sunday at the zoo

Sublime and Beautiful Sunday at the zoo

Good morning and I hope your weekend is going well

a good day for me back on the Puree diet and so far so good, and only lost half a pound yesterday which is a good day for me at the moment

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.

And for this week I am sharing some shots from Buttonwood Park zoo here in New Bedford,

a little bit about the zoo

The Buttonwood Park Zoo, located in New Bedford, Massachusetts, is a zoo located in the center of Buttonwood Park. Opened in 1894, it is the third-oldest zoo in New England and the 12th-oldest zoo in the United States. Located on a 7 acres (2.8 ha) campus, the zoo is owned and operated by the City of New Bedford, with the support of the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society. It is located on part of the Buttonwood Park Historic District, and federally designated on the National Register of Historic Places.

The zoo is home to more 250 different animals made up of more than 80 different species of animals, including many that are rare and endangered. The zoo has played a vital role in the conservation of endangered animals and is a participant in the Cape Cod Stranding Network and Species Survival Plan

A small zoo but the staff seem excellent and take great care of the animals and the grounds as well

ON this visit i had my Tamron 50-400mm Lens so I could zoom in one some of the animals

starting with this cute little deer

I'm not sure what type of duck if in fact it is a duck this is but it looked cute

ON a previous post I shared on facebook one person asked if the horses were still there as they had not seen them for a while walking past the zoo, so I made a point of walking to that area and this one horse was still there

part of the pond was covered with this green stuff not that it seemed to bother the ducks at all

And that’s all folks

Well I have always loved the zoo. These are great pictures you have here. I especially admire the horse, and the way it shadow casted uniquely on the ground is captivating, as well as the duck. In fact, this is a beautiful shot.

    Thanks for sharing 😊

Wow, it's quite a old zoo. I wonder how many zoos opened in the 19th century in USA. Since this one is towards the end of the century, it might be the last one opened in 19th century.

Brilliant captures and on a little research the first duck you photographed is apparently scaly-sided merganser or Chinese merganser (Mergus squamatus), great sighting apparently endangered.

That deer did steal the show! Great pictures you got when you were there! Glad to hear the puree diet is going well, at least you aren't losing a ton of weight now like you were before. I hope soon you might be able to graduate back to solids, but baby steps is the smart way to play things. You don't want to make things worse! !PIMP

What a beautiful little animal, it has a sweet look and inspires peace.

  • Good morning, Mr. @tattoodjay

It's great that the people who work at the zoo take such good care of the animals, and considering the number of animals there, that's no small feat.

    Beautiful photos.

I'm glad to hear that everything is going well with your health.

  • @crstypatata(69)· 330d

It's still good that you lost weight, even if it's only half, hehe, it's still a progress in losing weight, it's hard to lose weight especially when you always have delicious food in front of you.😅

All your shots are on point, I'll always look forward to all your shots here. hehe, more pictures please, I loved to see them all.
