April is the month that we have April Fool's Day!

The pictures that you see in this post were all taken by me on 21st April 2023 in our local park ..Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy, Scotland.

As you can see the weather was absolutely glorious! We could with more of that weather now, as so far this year has been pretty miserable.

If you live in a hot country, be glad you don't suffer our depressing winter!

Before I take you further, you should know that this post is a non what's the word eligible maybe, fluffing heck I can't believe I can't think of the word I want!

Anyway to cut a long story short this post is in response to the #bom from Silver Bloggers community, more specifically Blog of the Month Returns - It's not an April Fool's joke

Have you seen anything peculiar about these trees. This is spring so the trees are devoid of leaves in case you were wondering.

There is one particular April Fool's that I don't know if I remember from the original airing or the several replays over the years.

Who knew!

So there was an afternoon/evening show called Nationwide I think it was.

One year they ran a prank for April.

They had pictures of trees with yes you guessed it, spaghetti hanging off the branches!

Of course when I actually saw these fluffing shoes hanging from the branches it made me think of this prank!

What the fluff are shoes doing hanging from the trees?

It is not just pairs of shoes but also bicycle tyres!

Basically I got myself intrigued and went searching and found that the prank was Before my time! The TV programme was Panorama not Nationwide, which makes it all the more remarkable as Panorama was a deadly serious BBC documentary that ran for years.

The Prank ...

Panorama reported from Switzerland, where the combination of a mild winter and the virtual disappearance of pests like the spaghetti weevil, has resulted in a bumper spaghetti crop.

Fake news

This clip is believed to be one of the first televised April Fools pranks - the original fake news.

Back in the day (1957) some viewers in the words of Queen Victoria We Are Not Amused... Yep they didn't see what was funny because Panorama was supposed to be a serious fact based program! They criticised the BBC ... fluffing killjoys!

Was the prank a success?

Well some viewers wrote into the BBC to ask where they could purchase their own spaghetti bushes!

That sounds like a result to me...

I've seen many pairs of shoes hanging across power or cable wires, but never understood why. One good thing about them in the trees, birds can nest in them. Happy April @tengolotodo

LOL, that's a good one. Funny how people still fall for far-fetched stories like that. It's not such a big thing anymore, or is it just because I'm a 'retiree' working from home? All those shoes, I think they call it shoefitti, crazy! Enjoy those trees becoming green again, and more sunshiny day;)

Hehe!!!! Hello hello my dear Super Ed If news like that came out here, people would surely run out to queue to get a spaghetti bush 🤣 and if there were trees with shoes they would surely take them 😂.

You could send some rain to this side of the ocean, here the drought has been rough and in the last few days there have been forest fires in the mountains.

I haven’t heard about the fake news, it’s my first time

Now I’m thinking how they got those number of shoes hanging up there, is there a nearby mosque or something? And they pranked the people by taking their shoes when they were inside?

Oh and the spaghetti? I definitely would have believed so quick

In Cuba young people play in parks and streets, for example soccer, and throw their shoes at the electrical wires, I have never been able to find out why they do it. You see it less and less. Interesting what you tell us about April Fool's Day. Happy weekend.🤗

The only city that i saw shoes hanging is Napoli. Italy... And i never though some other parts can do this.... In any way bycicle tyres is something new.... Still dont understand very well the meaning of this staff🤔

How are you dear friend @tengolotodo good morning When I was a student every year we played practical jokes on April Fool's Day, one year they did it to me, and to be honest it wasn't funny. Spaghetti in the trees? In my city of Corrientes Argentina, you see sneakers hanging on the cables of the public road, but this here has a not very funny meaning, this is a sign that there is a Kiosk selling drugs and narcotics very close. I take this opportunity to wish you a great day

I used to get duped pretty frequently on April Fools day. I am a lot more careful now. I think it's just a byproduct of the world we currently live in.

No, no, it's still the same in this hot weather. Eveb if you go naked, it's still hot and seriously its annoying. And e-fan is also not helpful sometimes coz even the air coming on it is hot too ( ꈍᴗꈍ). Like really really hot ಥ‿ಥ.

But anyways, those pranks of shoes hanging on the trees are effing hilarious (≧▽≦). Like the effort too on making them is just (人 •͈ᴗ•͈) hahahaha. If its in our place and I spotted a good pair, I'll get them for sure hahahaha. As long as no one is looking HAHAHA

Spaghetti tree must have had folk laughing, those who never got it, normal array of not so bright, still many around today!

Humour is lacking of late, even comedians cannot simply enjoy entertaining audiences as they once did, ten out of ten for finding this old footage of prank used via TV in the day.

The things with the shoes i have seen in Costa Rica, especially the Caribbean coast, where the spaghettis grow on telephone and electricity cables. Hehehe
