Chapter 12: Eldrin’s Legacy
Lucien felt a strange vibration ripple through the air as he followed Hubert through the cobbled alleys of the Kingdom of Secrets. Around them, the inhabitants went about their business with an eerie serenity, as if detached from the outside world. Yet, Lucien couldn't help but notice the veiled concern in the glances exchanged as he passed. He was not welcome.
Stopping before a grand library carved from stone, Hubert murmured: — "This is where the true story of the Kingdom begins. Follow me, but know that what you learn may change everything."
They stepped into the silent building, where endless rows of scrolls and ancient tomes stretched under the dim glow of magical lanterns. Hubert walked with confident steps toward a secluded section, where an immense book rested on a pedestal, as if awaiting their arrival.
— "This book contains the account of Eldrin the Wise," Hubert explained, opening its thick pages. "The man who built this kingdom and discovered the secret of transmutation."
Lucien leaned in to read. Eldrin was not merely an alchemist—he had found a way to transform metals, but also to manipulate the very essence of life itself. His ultimate goal was not wealth, but absolute balance between the underground world and the surface. To achieve this, he had forged the first coins marked with the word SECRET—artifacts capable of channeling this primordial energy.
But something had gone wrong.
Lucien read the final part of the text carefully: "He who disrupts the balance of secrets must pay the price. For the gold that carries truth may also become a burden, and what was given must one day be returned."
— "Eldrin never truly disappeared," Hubert murmured. "His essence is bound to this kingdom. And you, Lucien… you are part of this story more than you realize."
A shiver ran down Lucien’s spine. He was beginning to understand—his presence here was no coincidence. The Kingdom of Secrets had called him. But for what purpose? And more importantly, what price would he have to pay?
Chapitre 12 : L’Héritage d’Eldrin
Lucien sentit une étrange vibration parcourir l’air tandis qu’il suivait Hubert à travers les ruelles pavées du Royaume des Secrets. Autour d’eux, les habitants vaquaient à leurs occupations avec une étrange sérénité, comme s’ils étaient détachés du monde extérieur. Pourtant, Lucien ne pouvait s’empêcher de remarquer l’inquiétude voilée dans les regards échangés à son passage. Il n’était pas le bienvenu.
Arrivés devant une grande bibliothèque taillée dans la pierre, Hubert s’arrêta et murmura : — "C’est ici que commence la véritable histoire du Royaume. Suis-moi, mais sache que ce que tu apprendras pourrait tout changer."
Ils pénétrèrent dans l’édifice silencieux, où des rangées infinies de parchemins et de grimoires anciens s’étendaient sous la lumière tamisée des lanternes magiques. Hubert se dirigea d’un pas assuré vers une section reculée, où un immense livre, posé sur un piédestal, semblait attendre leur arrivée.
— "Ce livre contient le récit d’Eldrin le Sage," expliqua Hubert en ouvrant les pages épaisses. "L’homme qui a bâti ce royaume et qui a découvert le secret de la transmutation."
Lucien se pencha sur les écrits. Eldrin n’était pas qu’un simple alchimiste : il avait trouvé un moyen de transformer les métaux, mais aussi de manipuler l’essence même de la vie. Son but ultime n’était pas la richesse, mais l’équilibre absolu entre le monde souterrain et la surface. Pour ce faire, il avait forgé les premières pièces marquées du mot SECRET, des artefacts capables de canaliser cette énergie primordiale.
Mais quelque chose avait mal tourné.
Lucien lut avec attention la dernière partie du texte : "Celui qui brisera l’équilibre des secrets devra en payer le prix. Car l’or qui porte la vérité peut aussi devenir un fardeau, et ce qui fut donné devra être rendu."
— "Eldrin n’a jamais disparu," murmura Hubert. "Son essence est liée à ce royaume. Et toi, Lucien... tu fais partie de cette histoire plus que tu ne l’imagines."
Lucien sentit un frisson lui parcourir l’échine. Il commençait à comprendre : sa présence ici n’était pas un hasard. Le Royaume des Secrets l’avait appelé. Mais pour quelle raison ? Et surtout, quel prix allait-il devoir payer ?
