The last Zekely was back so long, it was last season! Summer has just started so it is not that long ago really but I have some early summer catching you up to do.

This edition, I skipped as many stories as I included to try and will try to keep the descriptions brief otherwise we might have a 10k word essay.

# On the Last Episode...

...the spring was so fresh, we had just completed our first round of golf.

Since then, we have been a number of times including a tournament. Here is our head brewer on our latest round, winding up to smash this ball 110% as we are wont to do.

# Beer

Speaking of brewing, we have lightened up a little in lieu of summer trips all over the province. We do have a batch of NEIPA, an Irish Stout and a Peach Rhubarb Session Ale on right now. Our new mash paddle also arrived and we put it to good use.

Summer is as much about beer as it is camping. Even better when you can get out in the bush and bring the setup to have cold draft beer while camping.

Summer is also about road trips and brewery visit is a great reason for one of those. Especially when one of your favourite small operations has 3 versions of IPA available at the same time! Might have to review them on an upcoming #beersaturday post.

# Sailing!

Summer is also about racing sailboats! Well, it hasn't in the last 6 years starting with Covid and the captain selling his boat. Fast forward to this season where he has purchased an even bigger, faster racing boat and we are back on the lake! Should be a couple great regatta weekend tales to tell this summer!

# Music

Every season is good for music. We are actually hitting the studio a couple times this week to prepare for a music festival concert we are playing. This picture is actually not us and is as much business as we promoted a concert for a local band. These are some of the OGs of the local music scene having played for decades and getting back together to release a double album. Fun show.

Comedy

Another event we are promoting is a comedy show by Canadian comedy legend [Ron James](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_James_(comedian)) who is coming to town in September. We have sold over 300 tickets so far and got to hang out for a few hours around town. So nice to meet famous people who are good people too. Funny dood and I can't wait for the show.

# Dog Days

As you do in the Dog Days of Summer, you get the pooches out. This time it is a gathering of many local dog owners in the square to have a little fun. A bit of doggy olympics and contest like waggiest dog made it a fun event for all dog lovers.

# Food!

There is plenty of fun food stuff going on in our town with too many restaurants in the middle of a busy tourist season. This was a break to attend the Pork Congress show with a client who created Applewood smoked pork tenderloin with caramelized apples and fresh basil on a crostini. Damn delicious and I think the pig might be a little afraid at ending up in the recipe!

# Jiu Jitsu!

Plenty of summer distractions make for a light training season but I try and make it at least weekly. The heat makes it a bit more challenging but I enjoy the benefits of training in the heat for the endurance and fortitude. And for how good a beer tastes afterward.

# Beach!

We have actually been camping a couple times now and among the best places to do that is at a provincial park with a nice beach. This one faces west and is known for fantastic sunsets. Even though it was a little cloudy to see the sun crest the horizon, still made for a nice view of the evening sky with freshwater breeze cooling us of after a hot day.

Gardening

I am a little overdue on my next #hivegarden post too. intermittent rain and some very hot and sunny days have made for some big growth since the spring edition. I will get into how the cucumbers, squash, hot and sweet peppers, celery, greens and all the other things are growing hopefully this week. Til then, here are approximately 22 tomatoes on the first rack of this rapidly growing plant. We should be swimming in all different varieties of tomatoes in a couple weeks.

# Until Next Time...

Not only has the sun set on another edition of the Zekely Update, the fireworks have gone off to start summer. I love that Canada Day and the 4th of July are only a few days apart as Canada and the USA celebrate their independence. We can put our problems on the shelf for a day and celebrate the good things as a community.
