Few months ago I was asked by very good friend of mine, to do portrait commission of his children. Usually I avoid dong that kind of commission work, since portrait is a tricky business if you don't know person or if it's not sitting in front of you. Doing portrait work from a photo can easily slip into something like painting a corpse..my opinion, doesn't mean I am right. I just love to have real person in front, since, it's not essential that portrait of someone has to be his exact picture, we already have camera for that, don't we? But finding that character, something that is unique for that person, it's hard to catch from a photo.
Nevertheless I said ok, but I have to do it my way. Send me photos, I will choose one I like and than I will do it my way. So, it was like that. Her name is Vera, and in my language it means faith.
Going over her photos, I got impression she is one little dreamer who loves to play, like every child does. So, here is final work. Hope you will find this one interesting since it took me a longer time than usual for portrait work.
