New STEEM... It's not like OLD STEEM

As many of you know I am not a huge fan of the EIP economic changes. However, I am a fan of Steem and the change IS marketable.

CALLING FOR A COMMUNITY WIDE MARKETING CAMPAIGN

People think Steem is dead the last they heard from us was the Layoffs.

OLD STEEM was dead, sad and lonely.... Filled with Geeks who want to talk about MATH

NEW STEEM is Fresh and new and exciting. It is filled with humans who want to engage, contribute and help grow and develop Steem. Everyone is onboard on NEW STEEM

We are not making changes because we are sad and scared.

We are making changes because the changes are awesome and FRESH.

I am calling for a full relaunch and Marketing Campaign.

OLD STEEM vs. NEW STEEM

NEW STEEM New community funding -SPS New Community Tools - Scot tokens and sites New Scalability - Mira New Economic Model - EIP New Leadership in SteemIt Inc one of our funding and development companies MOST IMPORTANT New Attitude - Thriving

OLD STEEM

Rude, Scammy, Bad Economics, Too much GEEK.

We need to package the idea of New, Exciting and Alive Steem.

Please help. It can be done in memes, stories, community-wide and outside.

Once we get some graphics, Posts, Blogs... and yes Memes...

We will start a full community-wide Marketing Campaign.

Personally I don't think the Math matters it is our actions and attitudes that matter.

Time to stop fighting and GET ON BOARD

OLD STEEM is DUMB, NEW STEEM is great.

Outreach ideas so far. (mostly small, need more...)

NathanMars Theycallmedan PALNET Steemit Inc

What else can we do without a budget? Please brainstorm.

OLD STEEM: Didn't work NEW STEEM: Works.

It's a great campaign designed after old coke and new coke, those of you who tell me you liked old coke better are missing the point, because the campaign is still talked about today!

Write up or Mock up your Ideas and let's build a Community Marketing Effort! We do not have a budget and we need your help and your support!

Use the tag #newsteem

We may never have this many changes at once again, at the beginning of a new bullrun. Let's not miss this opportunity!

I don't really get the policy of @dramatoken's unvoting. I'm not an abuser, and unvoting makes me feel that I'm an abuser. This happened twice recently, even though current upvote can't even be paid out since it's less than $0.02.

I'm not seeing the use of dramatoken that much these days, and that might be due to too strict unvoting policy without any explanation.

I'm also considering selling all dramatokens if this happens again next time.

Thanks for your interesting project. I'm also trying to understand. I strongly believe that there have been so many real abusers. What about introducing a whitelist?

First SPS budget should be spent for marketing Steem to create new demand for Steem in Investors and developer community.

My little thing is to leave a Google review on a restaurant that also contains the link to my longer Tasteem/Steem review of the restaurant. Leaving these bread crumbs around might eventually get more people curious. It's just one extra step... but if enough people did it... Leave a trace of your steem post somewhere else on the more populated part of the internet!

Although I joined almost a year and a half ago, I only started being active on the site a few weeks ago. I am liking what I see so far. I want to do whatever I can to encourage organic interactions. That’s what I hope the site will move toward.

What I miss most is no matter old or new steem it is still for a certain group of insiders. It is hard to get in, fit in, not to feel lost. Content is not written for those who are new, to introduce them and give them a hand, but for those who already know.

I am one of them who still don't know how or what. If I read your post 80% of the words used I have no idea what you are talking about.

If it comes to Steem or Palnet or Steemleo and you ask how or what guaranteed 0 answer. It is an insider group and feels as if only writing about steem is appreciated.

New Steem? The same "new" as when they managed to remove the text "beta" from the logo after ~3 years...?

    newsteem.png

I have been here since July 2016 and I've seen basically everything. Like many others. Nothing will ever make Steem as great as it was during it's early days. People were thrilled and excited. Hoardes of people joined STEEM in an attempt to earn some extra money, and existing users rewarded them for their efforts.

During it's course, we managed to put roof over the head of an homeless man. We helped some single mom pay her electricity bill, rent and whatever... We have even managed to get someone a brand new car. - All of that, due to the overall charity and pay-it-forward mindset and mentality.

Those days are long gone. And we will never see anything like that ever again, due to greed and selfishness. - That's a fact.

People suck dick all day long and they feast on the little drops of whale cum there is left in the "tank". Even dolphins have dried-up due to this behaviour.

I love STEEM, I really do, but I love it due to the actual potential I see and the majority of people seems to miss that part entirely. They continue to be selfish and greedy... The more the price drops in value, the more greedy people gets.

I couldn't do a single thing about it when I first came here in July 2016 with 0 SP... And I couldn't do anything about it when I had 5000+ SP either...

I have tried to tell people about all the stupid shit that happens many, many times. I have told people that they need to stop promoting STEEM like a cash-cow and I have expressed my feelings and I've told people how stupid they are for talking in "tech" as soon as some updates happen etc. I have tried to make people understand that they are promoting STEEM to the wrong audience, by trying to market it to the "underground anarchist" type of people with their crappy "STEEM is decentralized"-slogans...

Nothing has ever happened. No one has ever listened.

    • Why would this "new" STEEM be any different?

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a new STEEM, and the closest I've gotten so far, is when I stumbled across PALnet. I am far from convinced though, but PALnet seems to share my values and ideas. They seem to see many of the actual problems with this "old" STEEM, which is really cool to see...

However, I doubt that they will ever be able to get rid of the greedy and selfish behaviour, so it feels like it's only a matter of time before that type of mentality kicks in with the majority of people... Just like it did with the "old" STEEM.

I truly hope I am wrong, and I wish PALnet, myself and all its users the best of luck... But I am skeptical. In the long haul, I can't see how PALnet would even survive without STEEM, and whenever STEEM is involved, things are pretty much doomed to be ruined at some point.

It all started due to bad leadership, stupid mistakes and the fact that greed and selfishness was allowed to exist to the extent it has. If PALnet in some mysterious, magical way have found a recipe to counter all of those things...

Well, then I'm in. Otherwise, I'll just continue my latests attempts to become ignorant, selfish and stupid, as that certainly is what STEEM is (was) all about.

    #newsteem.

  • @dougbudlong(53)· 2608d

I strongly recommend avoiding the piss-on-"old steemit" approach.

...Unless you want to appear like you are struggling to convince a skeptic. It was this sense of an incoming mob of bad habits (New) that seemed to be "ruining everything".

A community initiative is something that Steemit communities do. That might be a very good sentiment to embrace and convey. But market research is not only for corporate. Set aside this and your own ideas when you visit other sites and listen carefully to gain insight into what people want. If it's here- that's what you want to broadcast.

  • @sardar-sani(60)· 2608d

  • @ssjsasha(74)· 2608d

  • @drutter(73)· 2608d

    Huh?

  • @michaellandau(53)· 2608d

I really don't get the new versus the old distinction. But it definitely needs something new. I've been a member for quite some time, and it still too complicated for me to really figure out what's going on. There's just too much obscure lingo that doesn't make any sense to me. If there's any way that you can simplify it so that it would be easier to use, that would definitely be an improvement. I wish there is some way we could lose all the silly names for things that seem totally unrelated to their function, like witness, whale, and dolphin. I still find the website to be so difficult to understand that most of the time, I just write whatever I want to write, and forget about all this other stuff going on that makes absolutely no sense to me. If you want to improve the site, then I say simplify as much as possible, and cut out all the obscure jargon that makes no sense to most people.

  • @tezmel(70)· 2609d

The more controversial the topic, the ridiculous the comments get. Those trying to settle in the 'new steem' community will have a hard deciding if they want to stay especially if they don't know the mechanisms of what is there or what's been there.

I feel like that's where we lose it. I am two years old here and I am yet to understand all the mechanisms behind this community... probably because I don't have the time to fully understand it as I need to feed myself and Steem can't really feed me so I gotta work. My two cents ✌

That is why you Guns (yeah, that is my new nickname for you) are one of my most esteemed Steemians. Always thinking outside the box. I may disagree with you on a great many things, but I know of noone that has put more investment into this platform both financially (that is in the percentage of their resources) or with their time. You are indeed a friend not just to me, but a great many people as well as a great many initiatives regarding the Steem Blockchain.

    @whatsup -

This post has been sitting open on my desk top for a couple of days and I've only just got to it now. I really like the positive tone. I admit to having been one of the nay-sayers when I first started reading posts about HF21, and, I admit, specifically in relation to the creator/curator split. Like everyone who has a vested interest in Steem appreciating in vlaue, I was feeling hard done by. I get the difference between those of us (as in @ats-david suggests in his post), who haven't used fiat to buy Steem, and those of us who have used the platform to generate (a bit of a head of) Steem. My reaction was that we have created and thus invested our time and contributed in a different way to the develoment of the platform. The time spent on creating posts (people's opinion of the quality aside - that is another matter), is nowhere near what I could charge in my day job (and no, it's not what you think! lol). I was beginning to question what the hell I was doing.

I will also nail my colours to the mast: I prefer the creative process to curation. I would love to be doing more of the latter, but I have a day job that pays the bills...

Which brings me to my next point: I have not powered down - ever. After HF20, and I was paralysed, I received a small delegation (now returned) and I have given two small delegations - in the spirit of both pay-back and paying it forward; I have used some Steem/SBD to buy SBI and to host my website so that I can use @steempress (I'll come back to this). In the grand scheme of things, though, that's negligible. As is the tiny head of Steem I've managed to build so far. So again, the question arises: what the hell am I doing?

It comes back to what is, for many, almost a mantra:

I came to Steemit for the money and stayed for the community

Which for someone who is not a herd animal, is quite something and thanks in no small part to the big-hearted small community lead by @jaynie and @zord189, @steemitbloggers aka #poiwerhousecreatives and its members.

So, back to my question self-examination: It was @ats-david's provocatively titled post, Oh, No! Hard Fork 21 Will Kill Us All! that nurtured a niggling feeling that whatever happened with HF21, I'd hang around (as I think it did for @nickyhavey?). The reasons have as much to do with community as with having found two dapps that work really well for my purposes - both on Steemit and "there". Using @share2steem and @steempress allows me to reach not just a bigger audience, but different audiences, including some that would do not have the remotest interest in Steemit or crypto currencies.

So, as a person for whom investing in Steem is unaffordable (even when it was at its lowest), I am going to hang around. I'm beginning to warm to the new Steem especially if it deals with some of the nasty, bullying and bot behaviour that has made some Steemians lives miserable.

Thanks to you and @ats-david for a different and more positive perspective.

@whatsup that's a great initiative. I am surprised after reading this post because these same thoughts I have shared in a telegram steem group. More than EIP, steem needs marketing and promotion. More than waiting for some one to lead, we can collectively work on this. Because the steem we hold is ours and we only need to work to increase its value. More reasons with vision to hold the steem and increase the steem power, more value will be added to the steem.

New STEEM is better because it creates the opportunity to chose a different path . It used to be that either A: Spend many hours building your audience . B: Buy Steem and give to bid bots. But now it is getting more diverse . Even minnows are able to have a say and PALNET and Steemmonsters are doing a great job at doing this.

Okay... I've been here only since March. I've done well, but I have a certain toleration for being able to do what I need to do in the midst of head-spinning situations (thank you, teenage migraines), and picked up key support early...

But I read @penguinpablo every day on his Steem stats report, and Steem has three HUGE problems that interlink. Massive power downs, DAILY, in an environment in which activity remains steady and new signups are tailing off and HAVE BEEN tailing off steadily. The power downs, I don't have a suggestion about -- out of my minnow league (but hey, @streetstyle, getting folks to power up on a GRAND scale is your league, so maybe come speak on it).

What I do have a suggestion about is needing to find a way to onboard people and show them a path to success -- engagement, some kind of steady drip of cash -- SOMETHING. The stats show the system is losing steam -- there is no way around that, because if you have 1,400-1,500 new people coming in every week but engagement stays roughly flat, that means 1,400-1,500 have STOPPED engaging in that same time period. We are bringing fewer people in the front door while about the same amount are going out the back, along with those massive power downs.

Here's how we solve this: get high-value prospects on a curation trail at the start, just for them. I stayed because a kind orca/whale (I don't know the exact breakdown, but thank you, @carlgnash) delegated me enough SP so I could thank all the people who came through on my first posts, and that led to some decent early payouts in Steem terms for a red fish as those that I engaged with decided they would follow me. That was my early trail -- but that was not guaranteed. Let's make it guaranteed for those for who bring quality to the blockchain.

I came to this epiphany this week, when I realized: a lot of my support is from curation trails from different communities of Steemians ... I sort of backed into this position, not knowing what was going on. Now, all I have to do is maintain quality, and post regularly ... those trails provide me some income, and I realize I can now go take quality work and introduce myself to new communities that have trails. Not that many people are staying around to go through the process of backing into this position, and we can't afford not to retain the quality people among the 1,400-1500 a week that are coming in. So, start folks off right: get them onboard, watch how well they perform with #introduceyourself and just after, get them on a dedicated quality newbie curation trail, teach them how to position themselves to find other support.

We need to be INTENTIONAL about this, and the stats don't suggest we have a ton of time to figure this out. At the present rate of decline, we will have a situation in which more people are going out the back door than coming before the end of the year. Don't believe me? Here are the stats again; scroll down until you see the stats of new users, and tell me what direction they are clearly trending in. Engagement, combined with a little steady cash, will give new users incentive to stick around and see how great Steem is and can be -- we can solve this problem within existing resources AND, since HF21 gives more to curators, even make that an advantage to EVERYONE.

  • @hanen(65)· 2609d

I am not a fan of these EIP changes either. Specifically the free downvotes. I don't how that will possibly encourage more people to come here or help the price of steem in any way. In fact I would argue it is hurting the price right now as more large accounts are powering down than ever before, likely due to these proposed changes.

  • @ats-david(75)· 2610d

    Old Steem (Summer of 2016):

    • Non-linear rewards curve
    • 50/50 rewards distribution to authors and curators
    • No reverse auction

    "New" Steem (after HF21):

    • Non-linear rewards curve
    • 50/50 rewards distribution to authors and curators
    • One-minute reverse auction

I think what you're referring to as "old Steem" actually is the "new Steem" that Ned and STINC envisioned...and that is currently failing. What we need is a return to most of those "old Steem" protocols, albeit with a bit of revisions based on our three years of experiences.

The problem that I see with HF21 though...

The good that we may get from the EIP will effectively be canceled out by the SPS protocols that puts more 100% giveaways into the hands of the very same people that drove Steem into the ground over the last few years. So, while the EIP has protocols that may improve the retention of STEEM in the system, the SPS adds to the amount of STEEM that will likely be flowing out of it with no actual promise that the funds will be used for useful development (if the history here is any indication of what to expect going forward with the same small number of people deciding on what is "valuable" to the ecosystem).

But sure..."New Steem" is a fun little gimmick. I'm not sure anyone is going to buy it, but good luck to everyone trying to sell it.

Let's burn the geeks and pin it onto trending!

I was away for a while so I don't know what "new steem" is but from a geek's perspective old steem also had too many influencers who overpromised in daily basis.

As I remember many people were against to the new terms like vests in the previous HFs, it may confuse the newcomers. Then resource pools, mana costs etc. Now we have SPS, Mira, EIP bla bla oh la la..

I'd like to see steem as facebook with incentives, simple as that now I need to read 10 more articles about these and have opinions on it and discuss it for nothing for days until some people put some new terms in front of us.

Before I read them all, I just think as a geek :) how did they solve "Rude, Scammy, Bad Economics, Too much GEEK." problems with code.

New community funding -SPS New Community Tools - Scot tokens and sites New Scalability - Mira New Economic Model - EIP New Leadership in SteemIt Inc one of our funding and development companies

from these headlines only the EIP sounds like worth to read. Community funding was a thing, it didn't used well or didn't work to attract people at all, they just try to grow bigger inside. Scalability is not my concern, it's for big geeks those who run the servers for the chain. Leadership, does she/he plays guitar?

    New steem:

    • I bet none of them solved.

Oh there is one more thing, there are people that still believe if we behave well, steem value would rise. :) Hope this EIP is something about trading steem with outer world.

edit, Oh c'mon is that it?

EIP Under the EIP, you will be able to render a certain number of downvotes for free (i.e. without reducing your voting mana).

  • @mistakili(77)· 2610d

Steem needs a sort of patnership with a global tech giant.

Sony - ethereum opera mini - ethereum

I made a poll a while ago, it seemed to be in favour of Huawei, you can check it here https://dpoll.xyz/detail/@mistakili/which-tech-giant-should-steem-partner-with-like-ethereum-partnered-with-samsung-and-opera-mini/

    Or something like that.

Steem with a global recognized tech giant will do everything marketing we need with one announcement

e.g EA sports games announces to launch something on Steem!!

    ea-sports-logo.0.0.png

Ubisoft...etc...or maybe a brand not so techy techy

  • @insaneworks(71)· 2610d

Oh, gosh. I must be such an old Steemer. Although I have only been here for a bit over a year. But that's ancient in Steemyears. But what was I saying... Oh yes! I searched and searched, looked under my carpets, all two of them, looked in to my closets, under my cats, did dome digging in the kitty litter, shouted out to people out my open window (did not show my face because hell no!), played songs in reverse mode to find secret meanings, crossed my eyes if the world would have two dimensional stereo images so that I could see them better in 3D, emptied few glasses of whiskey to see if the new Steem would be there, even looked up my ass but I simply couldn't find the new Steem!

I mean, I an trying my best here!

Been reading up but still confused on the new Steem Might need to pop into one of my old friendly discord communities and ask around.

Some of the best people I know here are math geeks who crunched the numbers and looked at the codes yet they were not limited to it and saw the human side of the blockchain.

I remember having all those late night talks of humanizing technology and making it easier for people to onboard and have realistic expectations and leave the get rich quick and entitlement issues back in the real world.

    Need to read up more

  • @wizkidword(25)· 2610d

  • @simplymike(69)· 2610d

I've had a conversation earlier this week about creating a landing page for everyone to use, so people's first impression wouldn't be that steemit front page with that 80's look. Something modern, with a @steem-ninja signup option at the top. This was the base post.

A modern, attractive landing page, maybe with blocks that display all the different opportunities that are available on the Steem blockchain (maybe even using an aggregator, styled like one of those awesome magazine themes you find for WP, for example) would give people a much better idea about how interesting and versatile this blockchain is. Not to mention, it would look a lot more appealing and would definitely bring in more people

We simply need to sell the fact that change is a sign of forward progress(even if people disagree with the change). Tons of people hate change. Everyone complains when the UI to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. changes but in tech you need change to survive and companies/tech make changes because they are willing to make unpopular changes in the name of overall forward progress. The fact that Steem is changing shows that Steem is a survivor and will keep evolving forward over the long term.

  • @gray00(58)· 2610d

I think attracting Bitcoin holders is a good idea. Polling bitcoin holders what they want to see with electronic p2p money like steem seems to be a good option. Maybe the investment hedge funds have certain decentralized tastes, seems EOS fit the bill for whatever reason, I'm fairly certain steem would fit the bill as well going forward as it's more decentralized than EOS today.

The huge thing about the SCOTs is that they pay out 100% liquid, they give people the choice of what to do next. Power up/ Stake and invest or transfer to another project, turn to Steem or simply sell. The power is back with the individual.

Please give a shoug out to Sportstalksocial...,.its truly social, people are engaging again there, fighting....about their favourite sports and teams. This is NEW Steem in action and I want more people to join cls I have enough staked Steem to give big Sporty upvotes lol. The other nice thing there is that people are voting for each other, helping to build stakes and rewards. Its brilliant! as is Palnet and the other SCOTs. The motto should be: RIP Old Steem and welcome to SCOT Communities (finally!)

Final thing. I'm proper proud that you got a post pinned and featured, well done Ma'am :-)

What we can imo, is using the Steemit subreddit (r/steemit or maybe r/steem) more. There is virtually no activity there and if people go there, they won't find a sign of activity.

If everyone would at least upvote some posts there then and now, it would look much better.

Too much of anything is bad, but too little is equally bad. When you have too many Geeks there are chances to get new things coming onboard on time. But since the layoff it seems like development is moving in snail's pace.

This blockchain needs new things every now and then to keep people engage.

    New Steem Features:

    1. A great mobile phone app for steemit which makes people leave instagram and join steemit because of its special and great features.

    2. Sign up is working so fast and peoole can easily sign up and after 30 minutes their account is ready to use (I bring a friend and his account is still not created after a week)

    3. Users are able to pin one of their posts to their blog's main page, so if someone open their page they will see the user's intro post or etc.

    4. Steemit team care about users and listen to their ideas and if they dont like the user's ideas they will tell the reasons why.

  • @geekgirl(80)· 2610d

Love this initiative. While recognizing the pessimistic past, looking forward to an optimistic future.

One of the most brilliant marketing that I have heard of was done by a Russian band of orphans Laskovy May. This is what they did: This took place the mid 80s believe. They had a truckload of cassette tapes (literally). They made copies of their album. Went to the train stations and started giving away these cassettes for free to travelers and train conductors. It is believed that is how they became popular.

So, what I would suggest is some groups like @steemonboarding or @steemalliance or anybody else creates media kits for marketing so that every Steemian can use. Then anybody can print them out and post them at every bus stop, stores, message boards, schools, universities, work, etc everywhere around the globe. Designate a day every season to take action. No need to talk to people, no need to make pitches, just post the printed marketing material.

Of course, this would only work if there was a fast sign up system. Steemit Inc never resolved this issue even with free RC account creation. If people need to wait a week or two to get an account all efforts are useless. In this age, nobody waits that long to create an account.

I honestly do not know what to say about the old verse new, what has really changed? A HF is on us. They told us what was going to be in it. Just like the last HF, what is in it has grown and we were told at last minute. So far the only updates on the HF are the additional - Oh yeah and here is this we decided to add at the last minute - with no chance for the community to discuss it. SO what is new. We were given a Communications Director, and what communications has he given us on the HF, no progress reports of the test are going fine, no time frame being communicated as to when they expect the witnesses to validate or not validate the changes. In the mean time more items are being stacked on top of the HF with out community input. kind of reminds me of the last poll that was open for a whopping 1 day at most maybe they had.

I am sure that someone thinks the additions of the vote window and the JSON data stuff are important, but with the change and no discussion of the requested additional changes does not indicate to me we have a new steem verse old steem, seems the names and faces have been changed but the behavior is still the same.

    I so want the #newsteem....

Would publish my ideas and suggestions soon..

  • @jarvie(75)· 2610d

    I'm liking this!!

    OLD STEEM

    • Get Rich Quick and Schemes
    • Non intuitive sites (meaning sites that were confusing UI)
    • Focus on one project

    NEW STEEM

    • Focus on a diversity of projects
    • Successful money making projects
    • Focus on a diversity of economies with several tokens etc
    • New tools that support projects. Like hivemind.

NEAR FUTURE CONSIDERATION You could possibly mention communities which are coming sooner than most people think because here's the deal they're just making changes to the Hivemind and some protocols and we don't have to wait for them to make a UI for communities. All the other projects can jump on it as soon as they make the non-blockchain stuff active. So i'd have that as part of the marketing. Steempeak will jump on the communities quickly if nothing else. So i see this as:

    • A new focus on there being one company not trying to do everything
    • Also point out companies new focus to live within their means... starting with SteemIt cleaning up their financials.
  • @nonameslefttouse(77)· 2610d

I just told eight people they can now get paid to watch me make an ass out of myself. Explaining STEEM has never been so easy.

  • @peakmonsters(69)· 2610d
  • @drakos(70)· 2610d

I'm very happy with the changes in the last few months, and optimistic with what's coming ahead. However, I advise caution and not get too carried away with marketing yet. I'd rather see things being delivered, than remain as promises. When everything is ready and polished (user interface, user experience, SMTs, communities, blockchain scaling/optimization, dealing with abusers, etc...), then we can go full speed on marketing: look investors, see what we are today, join the party. Then, and only then, we will see STEEM's value skyrocket.

Staying positive is good in #newsteem, but I don't want to see history repeat itself.

    blockchain-ico-whitepaper-reality.jpg

  • @oldtimer(76)· 2610d

I don't want to rain on your parade but as long as the main stakeholder dumping steem en mass on the exchange, don't expect positive results.

Stop dumping and bring steem to $2 and we don't need any marketing. Masses will flow in like back in good ole times.

Until then is just a waste of time.

  • @mrnightmare89(74)· 2610d

  • @bitcoinflood(80)· 2610d

I feel like the largest portion of people that use and know cryptocurrency are on twitter for a mass social media and that is where we would gather the most engagement. But I also believe we need to encourage investors with money then just users.

Users are nice but if all they are doing is writing and not buying it simply decreases the price of steem. We need to encourage fresh money to come in and why its a good idea to stake in steem and build on the steem blockchain.

  • @jpphotography(71)· 2610d

I think the best way to promote Steem is by promoting apps built on Steem. Users will create a Steem account to use these apps and then discover the rest of Steem.

  • @buttcoins(75)· 2610d

I’m down to help. This initiative aligns exactly with my attitude. I’ll commit to making an attempt at a funny video in next 2 weeks... new steem vs. old steem.

I would also like to voice my very strong opinion that a main thing that holds steem back is the bullshit trending page. It’s a well talked about subject. But it seriously hurts us. So many new people look there first and leave. We desperately need a ‘real trending’ that shows actual popular content that is spreading organically not paid for. Would be amazing to rally a resteem callout initiative ....pointed at the front ends... like @busy @Partiko @steempeak @esteem Time for waiting for steem inc to fix this obvious need is over. Like steem engine did with SMT’s time to beg borrow and steal to make this vital need a reality. (Pet peeve rant over). 🔥 to new steem!!

I am sure their intent was to have folks rally behind them but also strike out on their own. If we are all leaders and making the charge to advertise steem, that is the marketing we need and you hit it on the head.

I usually do my marketing in the form of one on one which would make it more sales I guess. What would be great is a nice place for plankton to land and make immediate friends. To have a few other plankton as friends and a few dolphins and whales to drop occasional upvotes as a bonus to get them excited and producing good content. #powerhousecreatives is an awesome group but made up of mostly veterans and not a welcoming ground for newbies.

There are probably groups like that out there but something official or structured would be cool.

So not just marketing, but care and feeding of the new folks who come because of the marketing.

First try of the SPS? Marketing funding and direction seems like it would be a good use of the pending new system. It has always been one of the more pressing issues but generally relegated to the back burner.

I'm a walking billboard for STEEM!

    IMG_20190702_184318796.jpg

I've been around for a little over two years, and be it old STEEM or new STEEM, I'm in this game for the long haul!

I'll see what I can throw together in terms of marketing materials, and I've had a "Why STEEM?" article planned for a couple weeks that I could use to start my new wave of trying to get friends and family involved. I'll post everything I make as soon as I find some time around work and being a full time single father 😉

New Steem=free flags vs ol'steem=unfree flags it's better than clear Pepsi..

Tagline: steem, because something is better than nothing and you can't buy a thing with nothing.

Yes!!! No scams on the new Steem..

I would issue a dramtoken.. or sarcastic token :)

Honestly it’s got more viability and possibilities, but it’s all in the daaps.

    Cheers to #newsteem 😀

    Forward momentum!

Really nice post dude. I think new steem is really good for all of us. The direction now is aimed to curation and holding more steem and tokens. Sounds good for everyone, who wants make investment. I like the changes on dtube with avalon, where we got 100% curation reward. Palnet work too with 50/50. So i see good future for smart tokens and new hf21. Steem on!

Out-reach. As much as many of us hate traditional social media, it's where everyone is. If you have any communities or groups you belong to, bring them up-to-speed. It's not an easy sell, but with the Libra announcement, now may be the time to recruit.
