Every now and again someone thinks it’s a good idea to go on a self-appointed crusade to get rid of something they don’t like on the platform. There was grumpycat for a while. That account eventually powered down and disappeared.
Funny thing about bullies on Steem, they never come out in the open on who they are. They make full use of the anonymous nature of the platform and hide behind it. Cause stepping out and showing who they are while they attack others would actually take some courage.
Now there is @mmmmkkkk311. His target, the Steem Basic Income program run by @josephsavage.

In case you are not aware, Joseph uses his real name. He’s shown up at Steem events. I broke bread with him, his wife Katie and his infant daughter at the Steem Conference in Toronto. As did others.
He has nothing to hide and he doesn’t hide. If you don’t understand the ins and outs of SBI, ask him. He will answer your questions fully and patiently.

I’ve heard that mmmmkkkk311, once owned a bidbot.
Remember those, when people would send a bid in the hope of getting an upvote which would exceed how much they spent on the bid. In many cases, the bidder didn’t gain but the bot owner, usually did. If the bot owner didn’t gain, the delegators to the bot sure did.
It can be argued for small accounts who figured out how to bid in a way they received a return, it helped them grow. Not all did. Most small accounts hardly ever did.
From what I can see from mmmmkkkk311… he doesn’t seem real sure why he doesn’t like SBI. He’s called it vote selling, circlejerking, vote farming and best of all… a ponzi scheme with accusations that Joseph is going to take all the Steem and run.
The Basics of SBI
People don’t buy their way into SBI. Well, not without putting other people into SBI. I send Steem to SBI for whoever I want to have units. I receive a matching unit.
The acquired units accumulate over time. When people holding SBI post they receive an upvote in proportion to the amount of SBI in their pool on a limited number of posts.
The principle behind the program is those in it receive regular upvotes based on the units they have. They can transfer the units to others if they leave Steem. It’s as close to the concept of Universal Basic Income as can be had on the blockchain.
In my conversations with Joseph, he’s put a lot of time, thought and effort into keeping the economics of the program functioning, fair and sustainable. I am not about to suggest I understand the economics of it. If you are curious, talk to Joseph.
I Give SBI Away At PYPT
Every Thursday for over two years I’ve had done two post promotion shows on The Ramble discord. It’s a time when Steemians can take turns sharing posts of their own or others.
It’s a networking time. People get to know each other. Discussions take place. The topics can and often are varied.
During the show there are two giveaways. One is for SBI and the other is for my token SHADE. People have to be present to win as the prizes are for people taking part.
Why Don’t I Just Give Away Steem?
It’s really pretty simple. If I give away a Steem instead of an SBI the recipient may or may not power that Steem up. If they power it up, great, it adds to their SP and they can use that to grow. If they cash it out, well that is more drain on the system.
Giving SBI ensures the Steem is staying on the platform and also makes sure people receive an ongoing benefit no matter how small. For many starting out on Steem, getting those SBI units and the small upvotes that followed made the difference between them staying and leaving.
I provide PYPT as a place for people to get to know each other, to be encouraged to remain on the platform. SBI meets that need. Retaining members is important.
mmmmkkkk311 Doesn’t Care About Retention
I’m not alone in providing SBI as prizes for activity on the platform. There are many others like @pifc who has run a curation contest each week for almost 90 weeks to encourage people to find low earning posts and give them more exposure. His Pay It Forward Curation is also about retention.
Regardless of the way the SBI units are given, the common purpose behind doing so is to help people grow and stay on the platform.
What does mmmmkkkk311 do to help people grow and stay on the platform? — NOTHING
He does the opposite. He attacks with downvotes the people who receive SBI upvotes and people who give SBI units to others.
Yesterday I posted about a Witness Chat that I do every month in The Ramble discord. It’s an opportunity for witnesses, community members and the Steemit Inc team to come together to talk and learn. They are well attended.
The post received some good upvotes. Some of which I believe was a show of appreciation for the time I put into doing the Chats. I appreciate that.
This morning I issued some SBI units which had been won at PYPT. Sure enough, mmmmkkkk311 hit my Witness Chat post with a 100% downvote not long after.
Typical bully, just attack, cause he’s without the brains to do anything else. Use a big stick when there is no rationale argument in favour of your issue to be presented.
I’m not alone, he’s hitting others. In the past 14 days he’s done over 1100 downvotes on people’s posts. The DVs range from a single percent to 100%. He seems to be under the mistaken impression that if he keeps doing it, people will run away from SBI.
The only thing you will accomplish @mmmmkkkk311 is you will scare off some new people who don’t understand that you are just a bully and don’t really care for the platform.
You’re a butthurt former bot owner. If you had an ounce of thinking ability, you’d adapt and find another way to improve your stake on the platform. Instead you see how much damage you can try to inflict on a program that helps keep people here.
Bottom line, the giveaways will continue. You, the bully, can carry on trying to pound away at people for doing so. Once you get past those first 2.5 downvotes at 100% each day, it’s your voting power going to waste.
