The midterm season has come, and everything feels intense for me. The pressure of reviewing my notes late at night was added to by the fact that I also work an office job during the day. With the midterm exam coming the next day, I knew I needed another review session tonight. But before anything else, I decided to give myself a treat. I walked to the MaArTea shop just down the street from our home before I started studying.
As I got my wallet and started walking, my dog Mini looked up at me, telling me he wanted to come too. He always loved going for a walk with me, even when he was still a puppy. So, we both left the house and headed down the streets.
It only took us about five minutes to walk to the shop. Lucky for me, it was still open, and I could see the glow and welcoming vibe of the shop. After checking their menu, I already ordered. I asked the staff what their best-selling iced coffee was, and as usual, the caramel macchiato came first on the list. I ordered it, and also added some cheesy fries for my snack. This is how I wanted to start my review night - with something sweet and cheesy.
My dog waited patiently with me, and when we got home, I gave him his share of fries. I opened my laptop and notes before I started sipping my coffee. I needed to prepare everything first. I sat down at my small bedside table, and then my partner gave me an additional snack. I got some peanuts!
I opened my tablet as an additional device to check some notes and lessons. I worked to understand each lesson tonight, and the snacks I had on the side helped me stay focused and enthusiastic. Despite the challenge in studying all the lessons again for the exam, I know that it will be worth it.
Sometimes, we also need to give ourselves the treat we deserve before doing something challenging because this could be our motivation to do our best.
