It's really a struggle to get signal during this rainy season, which is why I haven't been very active elsewhere —but I'll definitely try to make up for it once the signal here at home improves or okay.
My father arrived at our house early to tresh the rice plant he had harvested by treading on it with his feet. Even though the weather was overcast, he pushed through to finish the task; the harvest had been sitting for several days, and there was a risk that the grains might start to sprout since they kept getting wet whenever it rained.
He managed to finish it in about an hour, and tomorrow he will lay out in the sun to dry the palay so he can sell it and use the proceeds to buy the things he needs.
And at lunchtime, we went to a barrio fiesta at the house of my brother-in-laws mother they had invited us over— we weren't able to make it to church. We couldn't leave right away, either, especially since there was still a lot to get done at home.
They prepared plenty of food for their guests, but all I ended up eating was pancit, rice, and chicken cooked with the core of a banana plant haha plus some pichi-pichi. I really like pichi-pichi because it's soft and flavorful, especially with the coconut they added. Honestly, whenever I go to an event like this or any occasion, I don't really eat that much—partly because I fell a bit shy, and also because sometimes I get that feeling of being full after just few bites, haha! Plus, I have a lively child to feed, so you end up feeling full really quicklyly. HAHAHA 😂
After lunch, we hung out outside their house—which is located near the road and the church where someone was selling children's toys. This is a prime spot for vendors of such items during a fiesta, as many children roam around during these occasions, and plenty of people are likely to be interested in buying toys for their kids.
Given the unpredictable weather lately, I'm thankful that the conditions were good while we were on our way home. My son was also feeling sleepy, so they weren't being restless on the motorcycle —whuch gave me the chance to snap photos of all the beautiful scenery we passed by!
We traveled for 20 minutes or more their house is actually quite far from ours—but it was still fine, since it gave us a chance to get out of the house for a bit, haha. Plus, there was a free lunch, lol!
What I liked most about the scenery we passed by were the many coconut trees; they gave off such a cool, pleasant vibe. The breeze felt so refreshing, too—it really reminded me that it's actually great to get out of the house sometimes, especially when you get to see such a beautiful view along the way.
In the afternoon, my husband went to have the unused rice we bought milled into white rice, since we had run out following a recent occasion. My son tagged along—he was crying and insisted on riding our motorcycle, so I had no choice but to go too; there would have been no one to hold onto him in the back! Ayysh!
This is the rice milk they uses—its built into looks like a jeepney. There are three people working here. Luckily, we were the only ones having rice milled that time, so we were able to head home quickly. While the milling process was underway, my son and I just waited by our motorcycle. I had to keep a firm hold on him because we were right on the side of the road, where many motorcycles and other vehicles were passing by.
So, here is our rice—along with the rice bran, which serves as feed for our ducks, yeey! I'm so happy. It was a really good idea to buy unused rice so we have something to take to the mill whenever needed. My husband paid 140 pesos for this.
That's all for today, and This is my weekend experience hosted by @tattoodjay .
