I returned from Petrovac, a small seaside town on the Adriatic Sea. As they say, "I started summer" 🙂
I used the days of my old annual vacation and chose this slightly smaller, seaside, tucked-away place as my destination.
The most important thing for me was to rest and for that reason we chose a destination for which I expected a little less crowd.
However, this year, according to several locals, "there are twice as many people as last year" in Petrovac.
The number of people on the promenade in the evening didn't bother me too much, mostly they were couples with small children and some grandparents who were accompanied by their grandchildren.
I didn't feel crowded even on the beaches we visited. I swam on the beach in Petrovac only one afternoon, all other days we visited the surrounding beaches...
And that's why, every day, after visiting the nearby beaches or nearby towns (about which I will write to you later), I returned to my base for this holiday, Petrovac.
The promenade and the beach itself are not too long. From the hotel where we were staying, on the promenade that begins with the Ponte restaurant and the steep stairs that only the bravest can climb to the viewpoint on Mali Brdo, and to the small port at the end of the beach next to the fortress, you can easily walk for 10 or 15 minutes.
During that time, in the early evening, I enjoyed the color of the sky made by the setting sun, as well as the walk, the music coming from the nearby restaurants, while I sat on a bench by the beach and looked at the night over the sea.
But I think I got the full impression of this nice place and its peace only one morning, when I woke up before dawn and went for a walk.
I used the walk to photograph the completely empty streets of the city, the promenade without people, empty benches in the parks, restaurants without guests, boats waiting for their owners to take them out to the open sea and pick up the nets with the catch, with one pair of early-morning fishermen 🙂 , but also to climb the small fortress, without anyone next to me, without passing on the steep steps and to enjoy the view of the open sea, the pier against which they break waves, and the mountain behind which the first rays of the sun can be seen.

I also used the empty promenade without people to mark this beach with a #worldmappin sticker (the kind I got as a prize in the hide-and-seek game at last year's meetup in Graz, and which I haven't had a chance to stick so far).
During the last two days of our stay in Petrovac, crowds began to form. Families with school-aged children started to descend on the sea, and it was a great timing to pack up and drive away from the peaceful and quiet Petrovac and leave it to the bigger crowd that will be in the place until the end of the summer season.
