We made a quick stop at the local park’s café to grab something refreshing and enjoy the nice weather.

It wasn't overly busy, and everyone was mostly sitting outside.

The café's ice cream is made locally, fresh "from cow to cone," but I'm trying to be good. Maybe next time I will give in and get a scoop!

Because the weather was so hot, an iced latte was the obvious choice for me to cool down. Chilled and packed with ice, it really hit the spot.

Alongside it was a warm decaffeinated cappuccino. The café sits in the heart of Whitworth Park, surrounded by beautiful green lawns, lakes, and trees. However, we decided against having a walk in the park because it was getting too hot. It is still a nice quiet spot to have a drink.

We grabbed a spot at an outdoor picnic table near a group of fellow coffee drinkers who had brought their dogs along. One friendly dog clearly had its eye on my coffee, resting its head on the table and licking its chops in anticipation!

Underneath the picnic table, there was a lot of activity going on. One of the dogs in particular was determined to make the most of the outing. Instead of a ball, this dog found a fallen pine cone and kept dropping it at my feet. That seemed to set the agenda for the rest of our stay. I ended up spending most of the time throwing the pine cone back and forth under and around the picnic table, watching the eager dog happily fetch it every single time. I think I got more tired than the dog, and there wasn’t much left of the pine cone in the end.

Sometimes the best coffee visits are the ones that get taken over by unexpected four legged friends. It was a nice little break from the heat, and I enjoyed the coffee just as much as the unexpected game of fetch with the dog.
