**The Beginning**
Every artist has a beginning not necessarily the first time they picked up a brush, but the moment they begin to understand why they create.
For me, that understanding continues to grow through my relationship with nature.
The Nature Wild is more than a painting of a deer standing among trees, rocks and flowers. It is an attempt to capture a feeling—a moment where the noise of the outside world becomes quiet and nature begins to speak.
The deer stands at the centre of the composition, surrounded by a landscape that feels calm, mysterious and alive. Its presence represents something I often see in nature: strength without noise, beauty without explanation, and freedom without boundaries.
I wanted the viewer to look beyond the animal itself.
I wanted the forest to become a space for reflection.
The darkness surrounding the deer creates a contrast with its lighter body, allowing it to emerge from the landscape almost as though it has stepped out of the shadows. The rocks, vegetation and flowers around it add different textures and forms, creating a world that feels both peaceful and untamed.
** What Inspired the Work**
Nature has always given me something that is difficult to describe with words.
It can be beautiful, unpredictable, quiet, powerful and emotional all at once.
When I look at nature, I don't only see trees, animals, water or landscapes. I see relationships between light and darkness, strength and vulnerability, stillness and movement, life and its surroundings.
That is what I wanted to explore in this work.
The deer became the central figure because it carries a quiet presence. It doesn't need to dominate the environment to be noticed. It simply exists within it.
And perhaps that is one of the things nature teaches us:
Not everything powerful has to be loud.
**🎨 My Approach to Art**
I work primarily with acrylic and oil, and I am interested in using colour, form, atmosphere and expression to communicate ideas.
For me, painting is not simply about reproducing what the eye sees.
It is about interpreting what the eye sees and giving it meaning.
A landscape can become an emotion.
A portrait can become a story.
A colour can become a memory.
A simple expression can become a language.
This is the direction I want my work to continue exploring—nature, emotions, people, culture and the experiences that shape life.
**🌎 Why This Work Matters to Me**
The Nature Wild represents more than one finished canvas.
It represents part of the foundation of how I see myself as an artist.
I want my work to create moments where people can stop for a while, look closely and perhaps discover something of their own experience within the painting.
I want to create works that don't simply ask:
“What do you see?”
but also:
“What do you feel?”
Because sometimes, the most important part of a painting is not what the artist puts on the canvas.
It is what the viewer discovers within it.
**Welcome to Emmiesteve 🎨**
This is my first post on Hive, and I see it as the beginning of a new chapter in my artistic journey.
I am here to share my paintings, my creative process, the ideas behind my works, the lessons I learn along the way, and the experiences that continue to shape me as an artist.
I hope this becomes more than a page where I display finished paintings.
I want it to become a visual record of my journey from ideas to sketches, from sketches to colour, from colour to finished works, and from finished works to the stories they carry.
This is Emmiesteve.
An artist learning, creating, observing and expressing life through colour.
And this is only the beginning. 🖌️🌿
