Cuando leí la iniciativa de [Hive Collectors](https://peakd.com/hive-180658/@mipiano/benches para este mes, presentada por @mipiano en esta bonita comunidad de amigas y amigos de las colecciones me dije, pues colecciones de bancos tengo varias. Soy rico en colecciones de bancos. 😅
Como podrás comprobar cuando veas la colección que presento, los bancos son seres muy singulares. Los hay que son individualistas, otros son gregarios y viven en manada, hay bancos que forman parejas inseparables como la de Romeo y Julieta, los hay orgullosos, fans del equipo de fúbol local, rústicos y elegantes, grandes y pequeños, infantiles y adultos…
… bancos que viven intensamente el día y que duermen plácidamente de noche si los transeúntes lo permiten.
Los hay que están a la intemperie y otros bajo techo y siempre están dispuestos a ofrecer un lugar de descanso o de meditación a cualquier persona.
Además de su vida, los bancos también nos hablan de los lugares en los que moran…
When I read about the Hive Collectors initiative for this month, presented by @mipiano in this lovely community of friends who love collecting, I thought to myself, “Well, I have quite a few collections of benches. I’m rich in bench collections.” 😅
As you’ll see when you check out the collection I’m presenting, benches are truly unique creatures. Some are individualists; others are gregarious and live in packs; there are benches that form inseparable pairs, like Romeo and Juliet; some are proud, fans of the local soccer team; rustic and elegant; big and small; for children and adults…
…benches that live life to the fullest during the day and sleep peacefully at night—if passersby will let them.
Some are out in the open, others under cover, and they’re always ready to offer a place of rest or meditation to anyone.
In addition to their own lives, benches also tell us about the places where they dwell…

La colección que presento hoy se encuentra en el norte de Europa, en una pequeña ciudad sueca (comparada con Madrid). Con el paso de España a Suecia el clima cambiaba una barbaridad por lo que no sabía muy bien cómo encontraría mi colección sueca. Si en Madrid el Sol trabajaba a tope y de forma muy profesional, en Suecia se podía adivinar su presencia tras las nubes y el agua de lluvia.
El día de mi viaje, durante el trayecto hacia el aeropuerto, los bancos españoles me iban animando a viajar, y la verdad, aunque ya estaba bastante motivado para el viaje, me gustaba la idea de que los bancos de acá me tuvieran como un conocido.
Al llegar, miré con atención por si por si los bancos suecos habían huido del mal tiempo. Pero allí estaban, los bancos poblaban las calles a pesar de la lluvia. Lo cual no me extrañó… con seguridad estaban acostumbrados al frío del invierno-invierno.
Quizás, para ellos sólo fuera primavera.
The collection I'm presenting today is located in Northern Europe, in a small Swedish city (compared to Madrid). The climate changed drastically between Spain and Sweden, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect from my Swedish collection. While in Madrid the sun shone brightly and professionally, in Sweden its presence was only hinted at through the clouds and rain.
On the day of my trip, during the journey to the airport, Spanish banks were encouraging me to travel, and to be honest, although I was already quite excited about the trip, I liked the idea of the banks here considering me a familiar face.
Upon arrival, I looked around carefully to see if the Swedish banks had fled the bad weather. But there they were, the banks lining the streets despite the rain. Which didn't surprise me… they were surely used to the cold of winter.
Perhaps, for them, it was only spring.

Volviendo a lo que los bancos nos dicen de los lugares en los que habitan… dejaré en esta publicación alguna de las particularidades que me contaron los bancos de Malmö.
Si hay que destacar algo de esta colección es la cantidad de piezas que se ven por todas las calles, patios y jardines. Me contaron los bancos, y parece lógico, que son tan numerosos debido al clima. Los habitantes de Malmö aprovechan la aparición de cualquier rayo de sol para tomar asiento y disfrutar del calorcito de los pocos días soleados.
De tal forma, que no sólo los numerosos locales de hostelería están acompañados de sus mesas y bancos en el exterior, sino que numerosos negocios cuentan con un banco en su entrada. Cualquier momento es bueno para tomar el sol.
Por las colillas (no muchas) y algún cenicero que pude ver cerca de alguno de los bancos me imagino que además de para tomar el sol… también son un cómodo sitio para los fumadores.
Getting back to what the benches tell us about the places they call home… in this post, I’ll share some of the interesting details the benches in Malmö told me.
If there’s one thing to highlight about this collection, it’s the sheer number of benches you see all over the streets, courtyards, and gardens. The benches told me—and it makes sense—that they’re so numerous because of the climate. The people of Malmö take advantage of any ray of sunshine to sit down and enjoy the warmth of the few sunny days.
As a result, not only do the many restaurants and bars have tables and benches set up outside, but numerous businesses also have a bench right at their entrance. Any time is a good time to soak up the sun.
Judging by the cigarette butts (not many) and the occasional ashtray I spotted near some of the benches, I imagine that in addition to sunbathing… they’re also a comfortable spot for smokers.

A diferencia de la colección de Madrid, me pareció que estos bancos, por lo general, estaban muy bien cuidados. Además, sin rastro de esa basura tan típica que dejamos los madrileños sobre los nuestros después de tomar algo de beber o comer en ellos.
Disculpándose un banco, por si me podían herir sus palabras, me comentó que un pariente suyo que vive en las calles de Madrid ya le había contado lo dura que era su vida en Madrid. Lo irrespetuosos que somos, en general, los madrileños con el mobiliario urbano.
No me sentí agraviado, claro, la verdad no ofende ni debería hacerlo. Entre conversaciones me tomé el tiempo de tomar algunas fotografías… espero que disfrutéis de ellas.
¡Ah! Que se me olvida. Un saludo muy grande de parte de los bancos de Malmö.
Unlike the collection in Madrid, I found that these benches were, in general, very well maintained. What’s more, there was no trace of that typical trash that we Madrileños leave on ours after having a drink or a bite to eat there.
Apologizing—just in case my words might hurt its feelings—a bench told me that a relative of its living on the streets of Madrid had already told it how hard life was there. How disrespectful we Madrileños generally are toward street furniture.
