Espe
Ever since I returned to Hive, I’ve also made it a point to start sharing a little more about those little things that are part of my daily life and that I enjoy so much. And one of them, without a doubt, is the world of stationery.
A few months ago, I discovered that here in Argentina there’s a whole scene of subscription-based stationery clubs—an idea I find particularly interesting because it’s become a way for illustrators, designers, and artists to continue making a living from their talent and supporting their creative projects.
And of course… I couldn’t find out about this and not get involved.
Two months ago, I joined the Strawberry Mail Club, created by Gaby, an Argentine illustrator and designer who has been running her own business focused on illustration, design, and stationery for years.
The concept is simple: every month, a new edition of the club launches, and those of us who participate receive a completely different package in the mail.
Each package has its own theme, illustrations, and little touches. The September one was absolutely bursting with spring. 🌷
This time, the design features a very sweet aesthetic, with flowers, strawberries, colors, and these little goose characters that, honestly, I thought were beautiful.
In the photos, you can see some of the items that arrived: papers, stickers, cards, cut-out elements, and little extras to use for journaling, happy mail, or any creative project we can think of. And that’s exactly what I love so much about the club: you don’t just get “stationery.”
You receive materials to create. To play. To invent. To sit down for a while with scissors, paper, and glue and let something take shape.
Plus, a small community has formed around the club. We have a WhatsApp group where we share ideas, take part in challenges, and talk about what we’re making with the materials from each edition.
And this month, something new is happening: we’ll be having our first in-person meetup.
For that meetup, we need to prepare a Happy Mail exchange. But that deserves its own post. 😄
Next, I want to tell you what a Happy Mail is, how I’m putting mine together, and, of course, all the things I’m putting inside—because I’ll give you a sneak peek: I’m coming up with quite a few creative ideas.
The monthly subscription cost—which includes shipping, as well as the design, illustration, production, and the entire experience behind the club—seems to me, personally, to be a very affordable investment.
I also like to think that when we participate in initiatives like this, we’re not just buying a product.
We’re supporting the work of someone who draws, designs, prints, creates experiences, and is looking for a way to continue making a living doing what she knows and loves.
Here’s a link to [Gaby’s professional website](https://strawberrystyle. carrd.co/?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAcGRvZgJzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA85MzY2MTk3NDMzOTI0NTkAAad3JsB -Luj4q_0Y8gWM0UdSEldmWyoZcqPd-6BZIxsuEkjDLTnuTuk3NTDAcA_aem_BtcGQNsBeLm9_X7epHl2Gw) so you can get to know her, see her work, and find out a little more about Strawberry Mail Club.
And if you’re in Argentina and you’re one of those people who, like me, can spend half an hour looking at papers, stickers, and cute little things… well, this information might get you into trouble. 😂 I’ve already fallen for it.
And I suspect I’m not going to get out of it.
In upcoming posts, I'll tell you all about our first in-person meeting.
Stay tuned.
A huge hug. Hope
