Generally,A Rubik's Cube is usually recognized by its colours.
Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, White and Orange
Six faces of the cube competing with each other for our attention. But I took the colours away - and made me look harder.
How many ways are there for seeing something that we already know ? - And perhaps that is what the black and white gave me !
What remained was just a shape, light, shadow and geometry of Rubik's Cube and Pyramid. This is my entry for #monomad challenge". I photographed both the Rubik's cube and pyramid through my 90 Diopter lens - an instrument that I usually use to look inside the human eye which is invisible to naked eye. But this time, there was no eye.
Volk 90D Ophthalmic Lens
In black and white, both the cube and pyramid became so much unfamiliar.
The coloured squares and triangles lost their identity and became the patterns of light and dark. All the edges became prominent and reflections became just a part of composition.
Cube and pyramid stopped being a puzzle. It became more interesting. As an ophthalmologist, I spend a lot of time looking for FOCUS. Here I was just trying to align the so called puzzle, the lens, the light and the camera.
Too close, image diminish
Too far, optical effect disappeared.
One small movement changed everything.
Cube was not asking me to get solved. Rather it was asking to be observed. It was all about finding the right way to see it.
