¿Qué significado tendrá la visita de un halcón?
Con frecuencia disfruto contemplando el vuelo de las aves y a veces el bullicioso canto de los pericos. He descubierto distintas especies en nuestra vecindad, desde cardenales y carpinteros hasta horneros y paraulatas, que de seguro por aquí llaman de otra manera.
La población más numerosa es la de las palomas y seguramente por eso alguien decidió incluir entre los pobladores de este rincón bajo el cielo a una pareja de halcones. En el transcurso de dos años han cambiado de nido en varias oportunidades y ya no son dos. Como mínimo, seis, y aunque sí parece haber menos palomas, no han desaparecido. Tampoco parece que otros pájaros abandonaran la zona y, aunque en varias oportunidades traté de tomarles fotos en vuelo, me resultó imposible. Son realmente veloces y majestuosos en el aire, pero la cámara de mi teléfono no tiene la resolución para apreciar su belleza en una imagen.

What could a hawk's visit mean?
I often enjoy watching birds in flight and sometimes the boisterous calls of parakeets. I've discovered various species in our neighborhood, from cardinals and woodpeckers to ovenbirds and mockingbirds, which I'm sure are called something else around here.
The most numerous bird population is that of pigeons, and that's probably why someone decided to include a pair of hawks among the inhabitants of this corner of the sky. Over the course of two years, they've moved nests several times, and there are now at least six of them. And although there do seem to be fewer pigeons, they haven't disappeared. It doesn't seem like other birds are leaving the area either, and although I've tried to photograph them in flight on several occasions, it's been impossible. They are truly fast and majestic in the air, but my phone's camera doesn't have the resolution to capture their beauty in a single image.

Comparto el último; sin duda, la naturaleza es una maravilla digna de ser contemplada y disfrutada en toda su dimensión, y este ejemplar del mundo salvaje que aceptó compartir nuestro hábitat urbano es una maravilla. Pero solo para contemplarla a la distancia.
Confío en que mantenga la distancia y nunca se le ocurra pasar del barandal. Su pico y garras resbalan en el metal, pero se ven formidables y muy capaces de lastimar a cualquiera si lo decide o se siente amenazada.

La verdadera identidad de nuestro visitante alado es Carancho (Caracara plancus) y pertenece a la familia de los falconidos o halcones. El más frecuente en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, donde a veces se han avistado halcones peregrinos en edificaciones de mayor altura.
