#2 intern planting green pea seedlings
On Friday morning I was up at 5:30AM and worked on photos and posts. I had to stop at 6:45AM to get ready to plant peas with my #2 intern.
When we got to the Big garden we discovered that more of the 2nd planting of sugar pod peas had come up. With the 3 trays that had come up from the 3rd planting inside, we had exactly enough for the 2 rows.
There were a couple more plants up in the green pea row, but with only the 1 tray that had come up in the 3rd starting inside, we only had enough for the short row, plus 7 for the long row.
I needed 80 more plants for that row, so when we’d finished in the Big garden and cleaned up, we went inside and got 3 more trays started. This time I’m leaving the covers off and will water if I have to.
They fit on the window seat so we took down all the extra shelving and put it away.
It was at this time I remembered that I was going to harvest artichokes and broccoli so we went back out and my #2 intern harvested them.
Back inside, she got started on what we hope is the last of the fairy repair. Then it was time for her to go.
I sat down for a while and then got the broccoli soaking in preparation for freezing. My #3 helper arrived at 12:30PM. I set her to cutting up and cleaning the broccoli while I got ready to blanch it for freezing.
It had gotten old during the 3 days of rain, so I didn’t get very much from this harvest.
We got the kitchen cleaned up and I thought she could work on cleaning up house plants while I worked on the cemetery stuff.
So she spent the rest of her time doing plants and I was able to finish the cemetery pdf for my sister, but I couldn’t get Yahoo to let me send it to her. My #3 helper left at 4:30PM and I eventually got the 3 small artichokes started steaming.
I made some supper to go with them and watched a movie until bedtime. I left the house open as it was to be upper 60’s during the night and upper 80’s on Saturday.
On Saturday I need to get caught up on my posts, work on bills/budget while I wait for the grass to dry so I can mow. I’m hoping not but I suspect, with all the rain, the grass will be lush again and it will take 4 hours to mow, at least. I won’t know if I have to do at the barn until I get up there. That’s at least another hour.
