Hello #gamers how are we doing today? I trust we had a great week so far and I wish you all an amazing new week ahead. It’s been centuries since I wrote a post on here but I’m super Gof to do so again, at the end I’d love us to engage and air our views in the comment section.
Now let’s talk about the evolution of gaming over the years and what has happened with it. It’s just something that has been on my mind lately and on some occasions i wished to go back to the old good gaming days, not like the present ones aren’t captivating but there’s just something about the old games.
[source](https://pin.it/19mVE7di0)We can all agree that gaming has changed tremendously over the last two decades, we have seen the era of game boys to Java phones, touch screen phones, android, blackberry, play stations, Xbox and so many and now it feels like we are already living in the future of gaming. In today’s era of gaming we can all agree that graphics have become incredibly realistic, worlds have become larger and technology has pushed games to levels many of us could only imagine growing up but despite all this progress, there are still millions of players who willingly return to games that are ten or even twenty years old and It makes you wonder why.
To me one reason might be that older games focused heavily on gameplay rather than presentation because they didn’t always have cinematic cutscenes or ultra realistic graphics like we do today but they were fun. Few months ago while playing fifa 2023 on a ps4 console I was so surprised at how the players skin looked and how realistic the grass started to cut when my players slid on the pitch, even the detailed dirt on their jersey was breathtaking. In the past developers knew that if the gameplay wasn’t engaging, players wouldn’t stay which was the major selling point but today, some games look beautiful but rely too much on visuals while forgetting that people play games to enjoy themselves, not just to admire graphics.
Another thing I notice is that when playing those old games there is also nostalgia because many older games remind us of simpler periods in our lives like those days when we were sitting in front of a television after school, playing play station 2 with siblings, visiting a friend’s house with memory cards in our pockets, or spending hours trying to beat a level that seemed impossible, we weren’t just concerned about the beauty alone. Those experiences im talking about was what created memories that modern online gaming sometimes struggles to replace.
Another interesting difference is how games were designed. Older games were often complete when they were released from the maps to the game levels and to the gameplay itself but today, many titles launch unfinished, expecting updates and patches later and then we keep getting stressed out to update interface and gameplay.
Another thing is that players have become used to downloading huge updates before they can even start playing which is not supposed to be so, I don’t wanna mention names but I would have called out some games that are fond of that, especially football games.
I really hope that you all understand my point and still I’d love to hear your opinions, I so much love how simple those old games were looking but very technical in gameplay, there is so much beauty in simplicity.
