Happy Sunday Hivers!
I have a friend who really loves eating pomelo. Whenever she sees one, she can't resist buying it, especially when she finds out that it comes from Davao. She knows that Davao pomelos are usually sweet, so she never misses the chance to buy some.
Despite being her favorite fruit, she always has one funny thing to say about it. She says that pomelo is the kind of fruit that really tests her patience! Peeling it and removing all those thin membranes before finally enjoying the juicy flesh can take quite some time.
There was one time when she was peeling a pomelo, and she kept saying, “Why can’t you be like other fruits, such as apples and mangoes, that I can eat so easily? If you weren’t so delicious, I wouldn’t even bother going through all this trouble just to eat you!”
I really couldn’t stop laughing at her! It was so funny how she complained about the effort it took to enjoy her favorite fruit, yet she still loved it so much. I guess that’s what you call love for pomelo!
I was amazed when my mom peeled a pomelo and finished the whole thing in less than 5 minutes! I asked her, “How did you manage to peel it so quickly?”
I could totally relate to my friend because I’m not very good at peeling pomelos either. It takes me quite some time before I can finally enjoy eating them.
But then I realized that my mom was used to peeling different kinds of fruits because she used to run a fruit business. No wonder she could do it so quickly! What seemed like a challenging task for me was just an ordinary thing for her.
According to my mom, the pomelo given by my other friend was really sweet! Unfortunately, I couldn’t eat any because I still need to avoid certain fruits due to my acid reflux.
Hopefully, I’ll recover completely soon so I can enjoy eating different kinds of fruits again. For now, I just have to be patient and take care of myself.
As my friend would say, pomelo really tests your patience! But in my case, I guess I need more patience because I can’t even eat it yet. Hopefully, I can enjoy this sweet fruit again soon!
