I’m popping in to tell you about the very special day my husband and I had, as we were attending the wedding of our dear friends Ena and Eduardo. It was an amazing day, full of emotion and joy.

Paso por acá para contarles del día tan especial que tuvimos mi esposo y yo, pues estuvimos asistiendo a la boda de nuestros grandes amigos Ena y Eduardo. Fue un día asombroso lleno de emociones y alegrías.
It was important to arrive early that day, especially for my husband, as he’d been asked to be the best man – or, as it’s also known, the wedding’s padrino. For that reason, we got up very early and tried to get everything ready in good time. We had lunch at 11.00 am so we could arrive on time for the wedding, which was at 2.00 pm.
Este día era importante llegar temprano, sobre todo mi esposo porque le habían pedido que fuera caballero o también se le puede decir padrino de la boda. Por tal motivo nos levantamos bien temprano, tratamos de tenerlo listo todo a tiempo. Almorzamos a las 11:00 de la mañana para poder llegar a tiempo a la boda que fue a las 2:00 de la tarde.

We had quite a scare at that moment. Thank God it was just that – a scare. So, we finished getting ready, getting dressed and doing our hair and make-up.

For this special occasion, I wore a dress that I absolutely love—it has butterfly-wing sleeves and a very eye-catching design, which is why I save it for truly special moments like this. It’s also a dark dress with polka dots, which I think is a lovely combination. As for the rest, my hairstyle was very simple—I wore my hair down, which is how I like it best—and I kept my make-up subtle too.
Para esta importante ocasión me puse un vestido que me encanta que tiene mangas de alas de mariposa, tiene un diseño muy llamativo, por eso lo uso para momentos bien relevantes como este. Además, es un vestido oscuro con lunares, lo cual me parece una combinación hermosa. My husband dressed for the occasion in a white shirt with black braces and a pink bow at the neck. I thought that outfit looked lovely. So, we set off for the church where the wedding was to take place, which was a bit of a distance away. Upon arrival, we began greeting our relatives and friends, some of whom I hadn’t seen for a long time. Meanwhile, my husband went to sort out the details of the wedding ceremony, as he was due to take part.
Mi esposo vistió para la ocasión una camisa blanca con pantalón negro de tirantes y un lazo rosado en el cuello. Me pareció preciosa esa vestimenta. De esa forma, nos fuimos a la iglesia donde sería la boda, la cual nos quedaba un poco distante. Al llegar, empezamos a saludar a nuestros hermanos y amigos, algunos de los cuales no veía hace tiempo. Entre tanto mi esposo fue a ver detalles de la ceremonia de la boda ya que él estaría participando.
The wedding ceremony was lovely. One of the bride’s friends had written a poem for her and recited it with wonderful intonation. The ministers also said a few words, and the bride and groom really surprised us by dancing to a beautiful romantic song. What moved us all the most was when Eduardo lifted Ena up during the dance. It was completely unexpected and very original of them, as we hadn’t seen that side of them before. Of course, the wedding vows were a highlight; we were all moved and cried with joy at hearing such a beautiful and sincere expression of love. Once the wedding was over, came the part that almost every woman looks forward to at weddings: the bouquet toss. I didn’t take part as I’m already happily married, but I did have a lot of fun watching the women so enthusiastically trying to catch the bouquet.
La ceremonia de la boda fue encantadora. Hubo una amiga de la novia que le compuso un poema y lo declamó con muy buena entonación. También los pastores dijeron unas palabras y los novios nos sorprendieron grandemente, porque estuvieron bailando una linda canción romántica. Al terminar la boda, vino una parte que casi todas las mujeres anhelan que llegue en las bodas: la hora de atrapar el ramo. Yo no participé porque ya estoy felizmente casada pero sí me divertí mucho de ver a las mujeres tan entusiastas tratando de atrapar el ramo.
It made us very happy to be part of such a special day in our friends’ lives. It was an unforgettable day where they made a sacred vow before God and before men to love one another every day of their lives until death do them part. A big hug to you all. Until next time.
