Touring My City
A trip to the mall a month after the double earthquake, which shook many of the city's structures. Now, walking through its streets and avenues, once bustling hubs, fear has momentarily replaced those spaces. Where there was once so much activity day and night, there is now a profound absence of people.Español
Recorriendo Mi Ciudad
>Una escapada por el centro comercial a un mes del doble terremoto, donde muchas estructuras de la ciudad se sintieron. Ahora caminar por sus calles y avenidas donde, constantemente eran lugares bulliciosos, el miedo reemplazo por momentos esos espacios. Donde había mucha actividad de día y de noche, existe una gran ausencia de personas.
However, as the days go by, we must face the reality that has left an indelible mark on our minds, but we must keep moving forward even though the earth continues to tremble and our vulnerability to natural disasters hurts us. More than the fear and the horror of our situation, we feel capable of rising again. That's why I've taken these pictures, and with them I wanted to participate in the #monomad challenge.
Sin embargo, en el transcurso de los días hay que enfrentarse a la realidad que nos ha dejado una huella imborrable en nuestra mente, pero debemos seguir avanzando a pesar de que la tierra siga temblando y nuestra fragilidad frente a los desastres de la naturaleza nos haga daño. Más que el miedo y lo terrible de nuestra situación, nos sentimos capaces de volver a levantarnos. Para ello he tomado estas imágenes y con ellas he querido participar en el reto #monomad.
Day by day we are regaining our sense of security and returning to our daily lives. Today I wanted to resume my street photography; I went to the Sambil Shopping Center, located in La Candelaria, Caracas. Although this area didn't suffer much damage, we can see some cracks on the exterior walls of the building, but nothing serious.
Día a día vamos recuperando nuestra seguridad y vamos retornando a la vida cotidiana. Hoy he querido retomar mis fotos callejeras; me he dirigido al Centro Comercial El Sambil, que está ubicado en La Candelaria, Caracas. Aunque este sector no sufrió muchos daños que lamentar, podemos observar en sus paredes algunas grietas en el exterior del edificio, pero nada que lamentar.
As we walked through its interior, we noticed the silence and few people loitering in its corridors; there is a lot of calm, its shops have started to work, the wounds are healing.
Al recorrer su interior, notamos el silencio y poca gente merodeando en sus pasillos; hay mucha calma, sus tiendas han comenzado a trabajar, las heridas se van curando.
I will continue photographing some structures partially damaged by cracks and collapses. I trust that soon, with the effort to rebuild and restore the building facades, this sector of Caracas will regain its urban landscape.
Seguiré fotografiando algunas estructuras parcialmente con daños de grietas y derrumbes. Confío en que pronto, con el esfuerzo por reconstruir y recuperar las fachadas de los edificios, este sector de la ciudad de Caracas volverá a recuperar su paisaje urbano.
