I’ve had to have what I need custom-made; I’ll tell you, a month ago I had 200 plastic washers made. They cost $0.28 each, for a total of $56 at the time...
It turned out that on Monday I went to the shop to have 400 plastic washers made, and the price had changed to $0.50 each—which struck me as excessive. I pointed out that I was ordering a large quantity, and the owner explained the reasons for the price hike.
There was no way to get the price down, so my husband and I decided to make them ourselves. My husband was able to see how the washers were made and what materials were used, which made the job easier.
We bought the 3mm-thick rubber discs—which were 27 centimeters in diameter—and the die for punching the center hole. Then we got to work; I helped mark the washers on the disc using a pen.
They were cut out with scissors, and the center hole was made using a punch. It took us a day and part of the following morning to make 400 washers; making them ourselves turned out to be the better option.
I realized the savings were extremely significant, given that only $35 was spent on four rubber discs and the die. Those four rubber discs were enough to produce all 400 washers; despite the challenges, we were able to resolve the situation by working as a team.
My message to everyone is that a problem can be transformed into an opportunity if you are someone who learns anything through observation.

Les ha pasado que van a comprar algo y ya no es el precio que tenía? Este caso es muy común en mi país. He estado comprando materiales en ferreterías, aveces sucede que no consigo lo que busco.
Y me ha tocado mandar hacer lo que necesito, les cuento que hace un mes mande hacer 200 arandelas de plastico. Cada una tuvo un valor de 0,28$ para un total de 56$ en ese momento...
Resulta que el lunes fui al negocio para mandar hacer 400 arandelas de plastico y el precio cambio a 0,50$ cada una, vi que era euna exageración. Hable que estaba mandando hacer cantidad y el dueño del establecimiento dio sus razones para el aumento.
No hubo manera que bajará el precio, así que nos atrevimos mi esposo y yo a hacerlas. Mi esposo pudo ver como hacían las arandelas y el material que usaban y eso facilitó el trabajo.

Me pude dar cuenta del ahorro es extremadamente considerable, ya que se invirtió solo 35$ entre 4 discos de goma y el troquel. Con esos 4 discos de goma fue suficiente para sacar las 400 arandelas,a pesar de la adversidad,se pudo solventar la situación trabajando en equipo.
Mi mensaje para todos es, se puede transformar el problema en una oportunidad, si usted es una persona que con la observación aprende cualquier cosa.
