An happy Friday to all hivers here! The weekend is just around the corner and tomorrow me and my hubby will spend the most part of the day with our relatives to celebrate the Birthday of the 12 years old son of our cousin. 😁 Today I'm here to tell you about the sweet sculptures titled "Mother-Play" by the local artist Valerio Gelli. Valerio (1932-2016) was the Maestro of my hubby, the artist who was the first to understand that Paolo (at that time he was around 16-17 years old) could become a sculptor and a painter and he teached him for years. I met Valerio in the 2014, just a couple of months before I married Paolo. It was like to meet for the first time his family, because Valerio was, for my hubby, not just a teacher but also a sort of sweet uncle.
Days ago, when we went to a conteporary art museum in my city, we watched a terracotta sculpture of the serie titled "Mother Play" made by Valerio in the 1963 and it was touching to see that piece there.
Matherhood was one of the favorite themes in the work by Valerio and along the time he sculpted and painting a lot of pieces where a child seems to play on the legs of the mother.
Paolo started his way on art thanks Valerio and they used to meet each other very often, to chat and work together, so ( long time ago) Valerio gave one of his bronze sculptures of the series "Mother Play" to Paolo and that piece was in the house of the mom of Paolo until she died. Now it's at my home, in a special place where people could see it coming to us:
See ya soon and stay safe, Silvia
