Greetings during this second week of September 2026. I extend my sincere wishes for happiness to everyone, for when we are happy, we devote ourselves to living life to the fullest—without messing with others, but rather focusing on making the planet and our own corner of reality better places. The opposite is true for the unhappy; they spend their time nitpicking and trying to undermine those around them. To them, I recall the Law of Action and Reaction—a fundamental physical law governing our Universe—and invite them instead to find happiness and focus on living a better life. Remember the saying: "Sow the wind, and reap the whirlwind." And since music is undoubtedly a part of happiness, I am here once again to take part in this wonderful initiative: MUSICAL MONDAY, a space hosted by @eugelys.

Today I’m sharing another Venezuelan singer—naturally, one from the 80s—who remains active to this day; she lives in Miami, has her own band, and performs regularly on the city's music scene. I am referring to ELISA REGO, a distinctive singer of pop, ballads, and new wave, whose defining characteristic was—and still is—her beautiful voice.

Al igual que otros cantantes de la época, ELISA REGO comenzó a ser famosa en la segunda parte de la década de los 80, más específicamente en 1988, cuando salió su primer disco, y como ocurría en la época, las canciones venezolanas, sin importar el género musical, se radiaban constamente en las emisoras del país, que para la época eran de amplitud modulada (A.M.), y también los canales de televisión de mi país, tenían muchos programas musicales, en donde presentaban artistas venezolanos del momento, lo cual fue muy afortunado para que éstos pudieran hacerse famosos, y esto fue lo que aprovechó ELISA REGO. Dicho lo anterior, veamos mis canciones de hoy.

Like other singers of the era, ELISA REGO rose to fame in the late 1980s—specifically in 1988, when her debut album was released. As was typical at the time, Venezuelan songs—regardless of genre—received constant airplay on the country's radio stations (which then broadcast via AM) and were frequently featured on television music programs showcasing the popular Venezuelan artists of the day. This environment provided a fortunate opportunity for artists to gain fame, and it was an opportunity that ELISA REGO successfully capitalized on. That said, let's look at my songs for today.

To kick off this MUSICAL MONDAY, I present the song “BLANCO Y NEGRO” a beautiful ballad that, if I recall correctly, brought ELISA REGO national fame. It is a song about the strain that romantic relationships often undergo due to the passage of time and routine. ELISA REGO’s vocals sound sublime here; it is a ballad I sang many times—not back then, but years later. I’m sharing both the original audio and a live performance with you here. Enjoy.

My second contribution for today is “ABISMO DE CORAZÓN”, a beautiful, rock-infused track where the electric guitar sounds fantastic and, of course, ELISA REGO’s voice shines brilliantly. The song is about epic heartbreak; as I’ve mentioned before, I process heartbreak through music, so this was a song I listened to constantly. Here is the official video.

Y para finalizar este MUSICAL MONDAY les dejo el tema LIBRE DE TÍ una canción más tropical que tambié es más optimista, pues habla de la sensación de liberación ante un amor fallido. And to wrap up this MUSICAL MONDAY, I’m sharing the track LIBRE DE TÍ, a song with a more tropical vibe and an optimistic tone, as it speaks to the feeling of liberation after a failed relationship.
