TL ; DR
AI is moving faster then I was aware off, now I can redesign all my apps using Claude in a very short time, I think this work well with Hive as the community and its individuals can leverage that power to organise idea, create fast MVP and then big apps in a fraction of the time or cost.
I manage to improve https://hivekpi.com, adding features that were work in progress while creating https://whatishive.com and deploying it in a single work day and not even all of it. To me it is crazy.
Hivefest Barcelona & AI rabbit hole
My interests in AI restarted in September when I got basically a month off, I started using Claude and bought a one month Pro subscription. Started using chat a bit but things changed when I came back from hivefest and started using Claude Code. When I thought about coding help I didn't think about Claude will write the code, push it to git, do tests and get a pull request all by itself and then auto deployed that was setup did the rest. For some reason I wasn't expecting it to just work but it does.
I feel like a huge field of opportunities just opened up.
Hivefest was a smaller edition but it was nice to be with people and talk to about the future of Hive, what is coming and realizing the technology we have here is still good and unique, we just need more users :)
Sometimes I don't understand why we don't have more people around but then you see everyone is competing for the attention of people which is a really limited resource, to find Hive by yourself you really have to look for it.
Important issues got raised which you can read on later, also it was nice to listen to the core team, really bullish on the Lite account which should be coming this year and will help fix at least the onboarding issue.
And thanks all for talking about how AI can be used and the potentials an risks as well. We might have to re organise society in a world where people won't have to work, the transition could be chaotic.
Crossroad
It feel now to me that we are at a crossroad for Hive, I feel like the success of this chain just became possible again, at least I am way more optimistic about it after talking to people at Hivefest and then researching what I missed in terms of AI capibilities over the last 6-8 months.
I rebuilt a few tools with Claude and I want to give a try to do a simplified front end version to test the capabilities in terms of integration like keychain and api calls to the hive nodes.
Tool 1 - Hivekpi.com - https://hivekpi.com
It is a little project I started I think last year, I started building stuff in angular and used Google AI studio to build it. It was a fun tool to use because you needed little efforts to visual and test it as you went, could take a while to debug and add new features as it could get messy but that changed with Opus 5.5. I asked Claude to to basically clean the code, it auto fixed lots of problems that were there, proposed on its own to finish the features I had started but were work in progress and was just waiting for my approval and after just did it. Pushed everything on Git and it was ready to be deployed on my current stack.
Now on HiveKpi you can see what was previously there like portfolio, income tracking and the main tool I started with which was the Hive Power projection tool to estimate how much Hive you could have in the future with just interests, assuming a constant rate.
Now you have the Random Curator tool that leets you discover new content and then you can read the post on like Peakd and vote on it. You have Hive network stats, Earning report in beta by months, year and a few other tools you can test yourself with just your username, no login required, basically only a frontend using public data but rearrange in a useful way I think. I mostly built it for me but if you find a use for it or think of new features let me know in the comments. I will definitely ask Claude to upgrade the site at some point.
Tool 2 - What is Hive.com - https://whatishive.com
A small site generated by Claude with information on Hive and how to join. Explaining what hive is and is not, links to apps and tools. Is it really useful, not sure but it was fun to create with AI and deploy it. I don't think it hurts to have more space online explaining Hive. I could also push SEO or do some marketing with this site around the message: Own what you make online. I like it, I was trying to figure out after talking to someone at hivefest what could be a common thing that keep us here and for me that resonated well.
Site 3 - redesigning my travel blog -
Straight forward site, this one I did create in Angular as well at some point in the last year, just got a nice UI improvement from Claude. I am still working on the main site which is currently a Notion page but it will change soon.
My point
is that you can create so much stuff so fast that it makes it possible to just try stuff out, I encourage everyone to do it. I got a Claude Pro subscription early September for a month and will definitly keep it. For me at the moment it is enough, I sometimes get stopped by the 5 hours limit but it is manageable and probably not worth upgrading yet to the $100/month version but I can understand why people would pay for it now, the productivity gain is crazy and I am pretty sure I am not using anything close to the max capabilities of Claude.
Also I claimed the $100 worth of cloud session credit that is being given at the moment. Opus 5.5 is a good model but I realized for what I do sonnet medium/high is probably enough and I should use it more to save on usage.
What is next for me?
Well on Hive, looking into ways to promote it, I was thinking a Youtube short channel with the help of AI to explain it. Continue discussing with people about the potential for a rebrand, @demotruk did a lot of work on the data and it could benefit us. You can look up his index posts about the issue https://peakd.com/hive-111111/@demotruk/hive-rebranding-discussion-at-hivefest . Also I want to keep creating more apps and leveraging the potential of AI. Testing a lot of stuff. I saw interesting projects at hivefest like hivepay and hive AI chat which look promising, I am sure people are working in the background on a lot of different things that could be useful to Hive and I am looking forward to the next year where I expect a lot of things will come out.
It took me a trip to Hivefest and a bit of time on my hand in September to really grasp the potential that AI brings to us. It is interesting times indeed and it is moving so fast, not sure our brain will be able to deal with it all but I am hyped that is for sure.
Little tip
Today I tried to brain dump everything to claude in a 7 minutes audio session and ask it to organize everything in a Notion page, it work after a few iterations but burned through like 7% of my 5 hours session, not sure why but its seem to be requiring a lot of tokens. MCP are another interesting part of AI and automation in the future. It is really cool to have everything working from one place.
