Good afternoon, music lovers!
Welcome to my #TTT #ThreeTuneTuesday entry!
Today, as has become customary, I’m bringing you another birthday celebrant.
Today, drummer, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer Mitch Dorge turns 66. Many of you may not recognize him by name alone—or maybe you do—but I have to admit that I only realized who he was when I saw the name of the band he’s been a part of since 1991.
Mitch was the drummer for the Canadian rock band “Crash Test Dummies.” I think it’s impossible for anyone not to have sung along to their most famous song ever, or not to have swayed to the sound of their “humming”—or, as it’s called in musical terms, “bocca chiusa.”
In addition to Mitch on drums, the band featured Brad Roberts on vocals, who had—and still has—a very distinctive tone that’s practically impossible not to immediately associate with their most famous song!
In addition to those two members, Ellen Reid on keyboards and backing vocals, and Brad’s brother, Dan Roberts, on bass and backing vocals.
The band was a huge sensation when I was young, but I have to admit there came a point when I just couldn’t stand hearing that song on the radio anymore… Hahaha
Have you ever had that feeling—that if you hear a song again, you’ll end up “hating” it for all eternity? I’m exaggerating, I know… But I thought I should mention this… Hahaha
How’s your week going so far? I know it’s only been two days, but can we already get a little taste of how it’s going? Are any of you on vacation, or do you have any special weekend plans? If so, and if it’s music-related, please share in the comments. It’s been a long time since I’ve attended any music-related events. I’ll take a closer look at my schedule for the coming weekends to see if there are any music events—preferably free ones—happening nearby. If it’s outdoors, I’m more likely to go, since temperatures in Lisbon are currently very high… as if we were still in the middle of summer… and not heading into fall.
Being outdoors, with a beer in hand (or not), watching a good concert—that’s definitely a great plan for a weekend afternoon!
The post goes for Three Tune Tuesday challenge run by @ablaze. Don't be a stranger, and join the musical weekly ride!
