Metal Skin Panic Madox-01 Anime Review and no more posts until August

image.png I'll start this off with the Anime Review, and the news about no more posts until August to the end. Metal Skin Panic Madox-01 is an anime I have never heard about before, but it was on Amazon Prime so I figured I'd give it a watch. And I am starting to see why it's not one that I have seen brought up. I am not saying it's bad, but it's certainly not a show that gives you much to talk about.

Basically, a mishap on the part of the government caused a new type of military weapon to end up in civilians' hands. Getting stuck in it and not knowing how to get out, he is trying to see his girlfriend off before she goes away to school across the seas. He is evading military personnel and a bitter mercenary who wants to beat the Madox-01. This is where I am a bit split on how much I enjoy the show.

The big issue is there is no chemistry between characters because you don't see a whole lot of interaction. I don't find a lot of the cast likable or interesting, and the situation is played ridiculous for me to get into how funny the idea of the story is. Quite honestly the story here doesn't have enough substance to even give me anything to criticize.

Getting past that though, the action is a fantastic beginning to end. A lot of the show revolves around seeing the Madox-1 fighting, and the action has an impact. When that suit crashes through a building, blows up an enemy craft, punches something in the face, and anything else it feels like it's causing damage. And it feels like an advance in combat equipment compared to anything else in the show, so even with an amateur behind it the machine feels dangerous.

If you are just wanting to watch a show for the action you could do far worse than this one. As long as you aren't expecting much else, you won't be disappointed. It spends little enough time on the other stuff that it never gets in the way of the action.

That said, I am flying out to Anime Matsuri soon, so I won't be around to post articles for a while. I'll be recording the next episode of 'The Adventures of the Monk and the Monarch' before I'm out so it'll be ready to go on the fifth of next month. Shortly after getting back, I'll try to have a couple of articles ready about Anime Matsuri this year, complete with pictures I take and any of me I can get, as well as getting reviews ready for Live-a-Live and some reviews of Xenosaga on PS2 (The entire Trilogy), and hopefully season 2 of A Case Study for Vanitas.

Look forward to being back to work on the 5th of next month.
