Mindful Monday - All We Need Is Just A Little Patience

Happy Monday Steemverse!! My apologies for missing this past Monday. This time of year doesn't really go how I plan or hope it goes. It's not due to the holidays, even though that would make it easy to explain. Such is life and after so many years I let it go.

I don't know about you guys, from time to time I need an exercise in patience. I am sure you have had one of those moments that you stare at the pot urging it to boil faster. No matter what it takes the same amount of time each time, yet there are those times one could swear it took twice as long as normal.

How often do we set goals for ourselves only to give up because we're not seeing a result in a time frame ? More often than we care to admit. We have grown, well growing into a society seeking instant gratification. Now is not soon enough. We wait at a stoplight and start to think "When is the light going to change?" We're almost positive that 10 minutes have passed in all actuality, it had been 2 minutes.

Patience is a person's ability to wait something out or endure something tedious, without getting riled up. ... Having patience means you can remain calm, even when you've been waiting forever or dealing with something painstakingly slow or trying to teach someone how to do something and they just don't get it.

Why is it so hard for some of us to practice patience? I think that has to do with a loss of control. It seems in most cases where people get really impatient is when they cannot control the speed or time frame for something to happen. We cannot control another as much as we wish we could. Having to be patient and wait for a result can be excruciating depending on what is at stake.

Learning patience helps us to keep our lives in perspective. It helps us to be mindful of our lives and our situations. Rushing around creates chaos around us. Patience allows us to enjoy the journey. To be able to see what is going on, to keep life in perspective and experience our journey is a key to life. Pushing and racing towards an outcome brings anger, frustration and anxiety in to your life. While these are natural in a general sense it is not natural to push towards this. As we learn how to be more patient, we start to appreciate life a bit more.

Yes we do get impatient when waiting on results from a doctor or a job interview or any number of life events. Does it really make a difference in when you find out the answer? Does finding out today make it any better or worse than finding out tomorrow?

Let the situation unfold, see what you can learn without the influence of anger or anxiety.

Anyone having difficulty with patience would benefit from a job as a teacher, or a parent. Control becomes a thing you dread having to do. nice essay.

Seriously, I have patience most days but never, ever when I get an answering machine on the other end of a phone, no all that patience is straight out the window.

Howdy tryskele! I think you have to have a great deal of patience to be here on steemit. Ever since I been here they been sayin things are gonna improve and the price of steem is gonna shoot up! so, this place has developed my patience.

Such a great perspective, @tryskele. Either patience doesn’t come naturally to most of us, or life speeds up as we get older, so that we have less and less time to get things done. But I know, for my part, I must expend some energy each day calming my mind, remembering that most interruptions are brief and temporary, and that stress and impatience never achieved a thing!

Hahaha, some say that my second name is patience my friend and I have my strict mom to thank for it. And of course my first name is trouble Lol Imagine as a young boy being sent to your room for a WHOLE day? You are hyper energetic and you cannot sleep in daylight? Well, you lie on your bed and you take your mind away from the situation on wild adventures. After many of these days it becomes a habit to take your mind away to such an extent that you cannot even feel hidings anymore. Story of my life and it works to this day, as I can easily stand in one spot for hours. Patience is indeed a virtue! Blessings!

A daily reminder to myself, this patience thing. The longer you practice it and let the other go, the easier it becomes.

I no longer let the little things bother me.

To put it in perspective, if you were given a terminal diagnosis with your health, you would see how unimportant things become. Now, I don't have a health issue, but, I have seen firsthand how that affects how a person thinks.

Why wait for that day. Take a breath and buy some patience. ;)

I think we're also a victim of the times. In this day and age in modern western society we're so ingrained to expect things right now that instant gratification is almost a necessity. We're now the society of the 30 second sound bite before hurrying off to the next short-lived but immediate task at hand.

I think what makes me impatient occasionally, are things that are poorly managed and/or presented, there's never any improvement, and you have to keep dealing with it when it could be improved easily.

For example, the nearest grocery store to me is a chain store. In this store, I have encountered numerous situations where some item I want is marked down, but when I go through the self-checkout, it comes up with the normal price.

If I don't notice, I get ripped off. If I do notice, then I have to wait for someone to come and reset the checkout and correct the price, so it's a hassle either way. I have gotten quite angry at this situation several times, which doesn't help. Nothing helps.

So, what I do now is, if I scan the thing that's marked down and it doesn't come up with the marked-down price, when the store person comes to fix it, I have them remove it and I tell them I'm not buying it. They absolutely HATE when I do that, but there's still no improvement.

No matter how eager we are to get the faster result, the time keeps flowing and none can't stops it... we will be there, I keep telling myself that I can wait because everything will come to the end anyway and I learn a lot how to be patience from my husband, he's the best on managing his eagerness😊

Patience is definitely a good virtue to have! I especially like what you say as to what difference does it really make wether you get immediate results or have to wait for a bit. The result is going to be the same it is just your experience that is going to be different. Thanks for sharing!
