Believe it or not, this is my first post posting from my own front-end! Some old habits die hard I suppose.
Either way, over the last few months I've had a lot of users asking me why they're not able to post into the scrobble.life community other media related posts than movies/tv shows.
My question has generally been that I don't wanna take away activity from other active communities, and the reason we created our own community for scrobble.life was due to the movies and tv one being generally unstable. However lately some have argued for being able to post them into the same community and that they'd prefer it that way because of how we've built it up and everything with scrobble stats being visible on any front-end, and general attention being focused here due to when the community was launched with many who are active having subscribed so the general attention being focused here, they'd much rather post the missing media here as well, which would be music/anime and books.
Thus I'm making this post mainly to check what you think about it.
I do however wanna make sure that I wanna leave the option open for people who wanna post into more niche-specific communities to still do so. The current existing communities that we're automatically directing music/anime/books towards if you post about them through our website will continue to be incubated by ocd and curated when their community leader/curators/moderators deem them to be so, but instead not block them from posting into the scrobble.life community if they want to.
Other than that, I've also been wondering about the beneficiary %. Does 10% seem too high at times like these?
Keep in mind that we're not keeping any of these rewards, they're all collected on the @scrobble account and currently the liquid hive portion is going out to people using the website to mainly consume content on a weekly basis. The other staked part is for now just held by the account with no active plans of what we'll do with, but when the time comes, we'll also use that for something similar to give back to the community but maybe in another way than consumer rewards. Point is that we're not going to keep them or use beneficiaries as a tax on the community.
We've made headway into subscription models where the reward is gamification and use of AI Agents and other cool things. We wanna iterate that we don't wanna "take away" features and lock them behind subscriptions as we've seen some front-ends do in the past.
But maybe more about this in a future post, for now, let me know what you think about being able to post about music/anime/books directly into this community if you so choose or if you think it'd be better to keep it separate so scrobble.life is purely for Movies and TV.
