The game I’m showing you below is Holo Swarm (in its Alpha version), developed by the Holozing project (holozing.com/swarm), a gaming ecosystem built on the Hive blockchain.
It’s a new release, and I should mention that I’m no expert; I’m just testing it out and getting to know the game mechanics. From what I’ve gathered, it’s a very interesting and fun game. I have experience with this genre, and it appears to be a "bullet heaven" or "survival wave" style game (similar to Pickle Pete, a game I really love). However, what makes Holo Swarm unique and fun is that it’s set in the world of Holozing and features its characters; you play through rounds or waves to earn experience, resources, and chests.
Based on my experience playing over the last two days, here are my conclusions:
Core mechanics and how to start playing
I’m currently on the main screen before hitting PLAY. The basic rules and controls are explained here:
. Start Screen / Game Instructions
It’s important to note that progress is saved in the browser and could be reset while the game is in the Alpha phase.
Here are the control details:
Move: WASD or drag your finger on the mobile screen.
Dash / Quick Boost: Spacebar (useful for dodging direct attacks).
Heal: E key (consumes your Tide healer's mana).
Rejuvenate / Recharge: R key.
Gather: T key.
My creature (Wrackoo):
- This is the character I play with. I have stats such as Health (HP: 192), Attack (ATK: 108), Agility (AGI: 116), and Defense (DEF: 81).
- I have automatic abilities like Bullet Seed and Cactus Toss. As I level up or play, I unlock new abilities and improve my stats.
I have a Healer (Tide):
This is the healer unit. In this case, Tide provides me with 140 mana at a rate of 2.0/s, allowing me to use abilities or heal during matches.
The Gear section allows me to equip it with items in the future to obtain better rewards from match chests.
Maps and Progress:
Proving Grounds (Level 1): This is the starting map for learning basic mechanics (dodging, healing, and gathering). The main objective is to survive until wave 15 and defeat the boss, Infurno. (From what I can see)
Once this map is beaten, the next one (Cave Depths) unlocks, offering a higher experience multiplier (XP × 1.25).
Let's look at How to start a run:
Click the green "START RUN" button.
During the run, the goal is to move your creature to dodge enemies, collect experience/resources from the ground, and let it unleash its automatic attacks.
With the experience accumulated in each run (as shown by the 426 / 4,000 XP bar), you can unlock the next creature (Zappit).
Bottom menu navigation
- Play: Main screen to select a map and start a run.
- Creatures: To manage, level up, or switch your creatures.
- Healer: To change or equip your healer.
- Craft: To craft/forge equipment and consumables using materials obtained during your runs.
Here I was playing, and my creature was defeated during the run, but I still managed to earn rewards.
Run summary
Result: FAINTED (Defeated) in Wave 5.
Cause of defeat: An enemy finished me off with the Bullet Seed ability, dealing 8 damage.
Statistics:
I defeated 25 enemies and dealt 6,364 damage.
Rewards obtained
Despite falling in wave 5, I obtained a resource bag called a Supply Satchel. Upon opening it, I received the following crafting materials:
- 25g copper
- 16 petals
- 0.010 dust
No gear dropped this time, but these resources will be useful later in the Craft tab for making items.
The following image shows the changes and details in the game:
. Experience Progress
Accumulated Experience: The progress bar for unlocking the next creature (Zappit) rose from 426 to 726 / 4,000 XP, thanks to the +300 XP I earned in the last match.
Crystal Balance: My resource/crystal balance increased from 0.012 to 0.022.
These images show the upgrade selection during the match and the result of a new run:
- Level-Up Screen
Upon leveling up during the match, the game offers a choice of passive upgrades (boosts):
- Power (+1.3%): Increases all damage dealt.
- Nimble (+1.3%): Increases the chance to dodge enemy attacks.
- Swift Feet (+10 px/s): Increases movement speed by 10 px/s. Choosing speed is often vital in the early levels to quickly move away from enemy groups and dodge charges. 2. Match Result
I beat my previous record by reaching Wave 6!
Result: Fainted during Wave 6 due to an elite enemy's Rollout attack, which dealt a critical hit of -118 HP.
Match progress:
Defeated 32 enemies (7 more than before).
Collected 25 coins.
Dealt 8,622 total damage.
Earned +420 XP for Wrackoo.
Reward: Secured another Supply Satchel. I opened the reward bag (Supply Satchel) from my last match and accessed my Healer's menu:
- Bag rewards
I obtained the following additional crafting resources:
- 18g copper
- 14 petals
- 0.015 dust
- Healer Tab / Inventory
Here I manage my healer (Tide) and their equipment:
I invite you to watch the video and share in the excitement of learning about this new survival and agility game; I will continue to explore the game mechanics and share my impressions with all of you.

Mecánicas principales y cómo empezar a jugar
- Healer: Para cambiar o equipar a tu sanador.
- 18g copper (cobre)
- 14 petals (pétalos)
- 0.015 dust (polvo)
- Pestaña Healer / Inventario
Aquí administro a mi curador (Tide) y su equipamiento:
