Hello, I hope you are all doing well. We are continuing our reviews of The Handmaid's Tale. I have finished the first season, and the series is at its best. Today I will review Chapter 3 of the first season. This chapter is titled "Late," and from my point of view, it is a very revealing chapter and also one of the most terrifying chapters I have seen, as they use psychological manipulation to further subjugate the women.
It's a harrowing chapter where June gradually reveals how this oppressive regime was established without many noticing; only when it became obvious and palpable did society realize how late it was.
Through her memories and internal monologues, June shows us scenes depicting the progressive erosion of civil rights, demonstrating that the dictatorship didn't happen overnight, but rather through small restrictions that people tolerated, such as frozen bank accounts and mass layoffs without explanation, all under the watchful eye of armed guards, with repression and violence taking over the streets.
However, I want to emphasize that I find the way things unfold quite exaggerated, especially for women with a different sexual orientation, to the point that they are executed for committing what they call a Gender Crime, and the only way to save themselves is if they are fertile; otherwise, they suffer a horrific death sentence.
In my personal opinion, this episode reveals a very cruel system for women, who are supposed to be cared for so they can procreate. However, they are constantly subjected to psychological abuse and all kinds of indignities, such as mutilation, burning of their bodies, removal of their clitorises, and sometimes even their eyes. I find this to be incredibly cruel. I think the writers can be quite sadistic at times.
It's a very gripping series that keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. For me, it's one of my favorites. Ignoring the cruel and ruthless treatment, I think I'm watching it hoping that the next episodes will have a revealing ending where the handmaids can take their revenge in the worst possible way against all those who oppress them.

Hola espero estén todos muy bien, seguimos realizando las reseñas del Cuento de la Criada, ya terminé la primera temporada y la serie está en su mejor momento. Hoy realizaré la reseña del capítulo 3 de la primera temporada, este capítulo se titula «Late» (Tarde) y desde mi punto de vista es un capítulo muy revelador y a la vez uno de los capítulos más terroríficos que he visto, ya que utilizan la manipulación psicológica para lograr someter a las mujeres aún más.
Es un capítulo desesperante donde June poco a poco nos va dando pista de cómo se instauró ese regimen de opresión sin que muchos lo advirtieran, solo cuando ya se hizo evidente y palpable fue que la sociedad se dio cuenta de lo tarde que era.
June a través de sus recuerdos y monólogos internos nos muestra escenas donde se ve la pérdida progresiva de derechos civiles, demostrándonos que la dictadura no ocurrió de la noche a la mañana, sino a través de pequeñas restricciones que la gente dejó pasar, como por ejemplo el congelamiento de cuentas, despidos masivos sin explicaciones, todo esto bajo la custodia de guardias armados, la represión y la violencia apoderándose de las calles.
Sin embargo, quiero resaltar que me parece bastante exagerada la forma en que se desenvuelven los hechos, sobre todo para las mujeres que tienen otro tipo de orientación sexual, hasta tal punto de que son ejecutadas por cometer lo que ellos llaman Delito de Género y la única manera de salvarse es si eres fértil de lo contrario sufres una castigo de muerte muy horrendo.
Desde mi opinión personal este capítulo revela un sistema muy cruel para la mujer que se supone deben cuidar para que puedan procrear, sin embargo, está sujeta constantemente a maltratos psicológicos y vejaciones de todo tipo como mutilaciones, quemaduras de sus cuerpo, extracciones de su clítoris y a veces de sus ojos, eso me parece demasiada crueldad, creo que a veces los escritores son bastante sádicos.
Es una serie muy desesperante que te mantiene atenta a lo que puede suceder, para mi es una de mis series favoritas, obviando el trato cruel y despiadado creo que estoy viéndola con la esperanza de que en los próximos capítulos hayan un desenlace revelador donde las criadas puedan vengarse de la peor manera contra todos los que las oprimen.
