Kalki 2898 AD was released in 2024 It’s a film that blends science fiction, action, adventure and mythology. When I watched the movie what interested me most was how it connects a distant future to the ancient tales of the Mahabharata The story takes us to the year 2898 AD Most of the Earth has become an arid and devastated region. Natural resources are gradually dwindling while Kashi is considered the last city still standing But in Kashi, not everyone leads the same life There is a powerful place called The Complex where the wealthiest and most influential people live It is ruled by the Supreme Leader Yaskin who seeks to seize the greatest power in the world. But Yaskin is searching for something more valuable than gold and riches A child who has not yet been born.
SUMATHI—THE MOTHER OF THE EXPECTED CHILD 🤰
The story then introduces us to Sumathi Sumathi was one of the women subjected to secret experiments inside The Complex When it’s discovered that she’s pregnant we realize that the child she’s carrying is of extraordinary importance Yaskin and his men want to capture Sumathi and her child But Sumathi refuses to hand over her baby She tries to escape… And that’s where the story really begins
BHAIRAVA – THE MAN WHO LOVES MONEY
Next,we meet Bhairava played by Prabhas Bhairava is a powerful man who loves money and living a comfortable life When he learns that Sumathi is wanted, he sees a great opportunity to make a lot of money At first,Bhairava doesn’t care why Sumathi is being hunted He just wants the reward But things gradually spiral out of his control Bhairava finds himself at the center of a conflict involving Sumathi Yaskin Ashwatthama, and the forces of The Complex And little by little,we begin to realize that Bhairava is no ordinary man
ASHWATTHAMA – THE IMMORTAL WARRIOR
One of the characters I liked the most in the movie is Ashwatthama played by Amitabh Bachchan Ashwatthama comes from a time far removed from the future in which the story takes place He is a warrior from the Mahabharata condemned to live on for a very long time When he realizes the importance of Sumathi and her child he makes a decision He must protect them Ashwatthama then becomes the main obstacle for anyone trying to harm Sumathi When I saw his fight scenes I really felt like the movie was taken to another level
BHAIRAVA vs ASHWATTHAMA
As Bhairava searches for Sumathi, he eventually comes face-to-face with Ashwatthama The two men engage in an impressive battle Bhairava has strength and strategy while Ashwatthama has thousands of years of combat experience At first Bhairava seems to be nothing more than a man in search of money But the film gradually begins to reveal that Bhairava is hiding a great secret
Bhairava’s Secret
The film’s ending completely changes the perspective of the story We discover that Bhairava has a connection to the ancient epic of the Mahabharata The film strongly highlights his connection to Karna,l the famous warrior of the Mahabharata This makes the story much bigger than anyone could have initially imagined.l I then realized that Kalki 2898 AD isn’t just a movie set in the future It’s a story that connects The past The future And what lies ahead for the world
KALKi—THE HOPE OF THE WORLD
Everything ultimately ties back to the child Sumathi is carrying in her womb This child is believed to be Kalki, the final avatar of Vishnu according to Hindu mythology It is believed that his arrival will bring about immense change in the world That is why Yaskin desires this child so much He wants to seize that power But on the other side stands Ashwatthama, ready to protect Sumathi and her child
YASKIN – THE MAN SEEKING POWER
Yaskin doesn’t just want to control The Complex He wants to gain power that surpasses that of ordinary human beings He conducts experiments and devises various plans to obtain this new power When he finally reaches a considerable level of power the threat he poses becomes even greater From now on,the conflict is no longer simply
Bhairava vs. Yaskin It’s a battle that concerns the future of humanity.
THE END OF THE MOVIE
The ending of Kalki 2898 AD clearly shows that the story doesn’t end there. Sumathi is still carrying the long-awaited child Ashwatthama is ready to protect him Bhairava is beginning to uncover the secret behind his true identity And Yaskin is becoming an even greater threat The movie leaves us with many questions: Will Bhairava protect Sumathi and Kalki’s child? What role will Ashwatthama play in the next battle? Will Yaskin succeed in obtaining the power he seeks? And most importantly
What will happen when Kalki is born?
MY THOUGHTS
For me Kalki 2898 AD is a very interesting film especially because it blends science fiction and mythology
I particularly enjoyed Prabhas as Bhairava Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama and the way the film connects the futuristic story to the Mahabharata
What really made me look forward to the sequel was the film’s ending as it clearly shows that the great battle hasn’t even begun yet
KALKI 2898 AD
