Any series or movie that I'm expected to research to understand the plot after I finish watching it is a big flop for me when it comes to rating it.
At the end of season 1, one of the lead-role actors, Yoon Chae-ok, was killed by the creature (her mother), and she was thrown into the sea, where the "Najin" (the virus) from the creature was transferred from the creature's body to Yoon Chae-ok, which revived her. This means that the creature (her mother) willingly died to revive her daughter. So, I knew that she was still going to come back in season 2 even before I decided to watch it. But the form at which she would come was what I never expected.
Season 2 started with a totally different background from season 1, which was set in a modern environment with advanced technologies like the ones we have today, such as cars, skyscrapers, and sophisticated tools, compared to how season 1 was done in the ancient Japanese style of living. So, this got me applauding the idea, relating it to a series I once saw that was transformed like that after so many years, with generations of people coming and going.
Season 2 tells us that many years have passed after season 1, and before I knew it, the same actors from season 1, who, by calculation, could never appear with the same looks because many generations had come and gone, appeared with the same looks.
Okay, Yoon Chae-ok and Master Jang seem understandable to me because they had the virus in them, which, according to them, makes them forever young. But what about Lady Medea? It was never stated that she had the virus in her, yet she appeared the same way she did in season 1. Come on, I can't go and do research to understand a movie!
Aside from this confusion, I love the idea of advancing their experiments to continue creating supernatural fighters from humans that cannot be killed. Season 2 shows how successful they've become in creating different kinds of creatures. But even with that, the team never stops trying to create more creatures.
The plot:
Master Jang was operated on to remove the Najin inside him and was promised by his uncle that they were never going to come for him since his old memories had been wiped out. Chae-ok, on the other hand, earns a living by taking up jobs to kill terrors in the city. She gets a job to kill one of the creatures that goes around killing people to feed, and Master Jang, also due to a misconception, gets assigned to track down the killer, who has become a big concern for the police. That's when the two of them meet, and everything turns around. The situation erupted into anger at the Biotech hospital, and that became the war.
The creatures and the fight scenes:
I'm sure the directors of this series wanted, by all means, to make the series match up to the standards of advanced technology. The creatures and the fight scenes are so poorly done, or let me say, they are too fast, and one could barely capture anything from them. The creatures are so fast that they move at the speed of light, and that makes the fight scenes so uninteresting. Too much of everything is bad, yeah.
I would rate season 2 of the series 1/10. So bad. It didn't match up to the entertaining feel I had while watching season 1.
