Second chances is about a female lawyer " Cynthia" who grow up in an abusive home. Her parents fight everyday in her presence and she has been traumatised. Her parents later seperated and she was raised in a broken home by a single mother.
It started with a case between
Two lawyers settling dispute with there clients. A woman " mrs komolafe" and her neighbour, her neighbour gen is affecting her children, she fight back by spoiling he's generator. The neighbour's lawyer put a price on her that she must pay. But mrs komolafe wasn't having it she started talking about her children. The lawyer then went ahead and gave her a noise and pollution abatement agreement form to sign the lawyer explained to her that the form doesn't say who is right or wrong. It just states that Mr okafo will only turn on his gen at a certain time and off at the given time by the lawyer. The lawyer also stated that the gen will be moved away from her so it doesn't affect her and her children. She was also required to send a muffler in 14days.
Mrs komolafe has to pay to save her from going to court for 6 months. She then had a conversation with her lawyer. They decided to ask her neighbour to show the prove that she spoilt his generator, and he did show on her on his phone. A clear video of her pouring sugar inside her neighbour's generator. She ended up speechless.
After the whole evidence with lawyer exist and they had a discussion where Mrs komolafe's lawyer said he was disapproved with the way the conversation between both clients end.
Mrs Cynthia, the female lawyer when ahead to see the chief judge to give him the feedback on mediation and she was give another case and a new client. The case file was handed over to her.
Another line is a woman"divorcee" who own an astethic shop and she has a son. A customer came in to do manicure and while he was there they had a conversation about there personal life, that someone was owing him some amount of money and he ended up asking for her lawyer then she spoke about her lawyer. Afterwards they introduce themselves " james and jadesola".
Jadesola the asthetician called her friend Cynthia the lawyer to discuss about her customer who is in need of a lawyer " jadesola explained everything to the lawyer. She contacted both of them together.
Cynthia had a lot of case related to her story each time she win the case she always remember want she went gone through with her mother.
The lawyer " Cynthia" has a lover who loves her so dearly and he later proposed to her. It was all lovey dovey she couldn't believe that she will be loved due to the trauma of her past broken home as a child. She told him her past relationship experience a bad one.
He has been back for a while and she didn't know unfortunately her friend jasola's clients who was introduced to her was her Ex. When he contact her she realised then he started blackmailing her.
Then she paid because of the threat and her past history which he had on his phone. The lawyer'" Cynthia" use to sell her body for money in the past due to her background. No meaning of survival.
Her boyfriend " henry" was taking it likely with her he questioned her so many times for hiding everything for him.
She confess that she killed a girl in the hotel room while she was still in the street. He walked away. He confirmed if her friend "jadesola" was aware of the whole thing that happened between Cynthia and her Ex "benson".
Henry love Cynthia so much that he couldn't say back and he came back to her for a make up after all she told him about her past. He gave her a second chance to feel loved again.
In summary, the movie is about a broken woman who becomes a lawyer after growing up in a home where her parents constantly fought in her presence. Her childhood experiences continued to affect her, especially when she began handling clients who were dealing with similar family problems, as they always reminded her of her painful past.
She also had a difficult experience while in school, where she resorted to selling her body for money and ended up sleeping with different men. Later, she found a lover who proposed to her. After she opened up about her past experiences, he became angry and walked away from her. However, he eventually returned, and they reconciled. He gave her a second chance to experience love and happiness.
