Language is such a beautiful thing. One that unites people and make them feel the spirit of togetherness no matter their differences or status.
It's just so beautiful how you see different regions with their distinct languages, some of which you can easily listen to and understand what they are saying even if you can't say it while there are some whereby even when you force yourself or strain your ears so hard, you ain't gonna hear a bit of what they say. Although that may be a kind of a barrier in communication for people who ain't from one's community, state, region, or country but for me, I feel like that is what makes us distinctly special to ourselves and have the desire to want to learn other languages.
Now, how easy is it to learn these other languages? I've had times when I wanted to learn French and a colleague suggested an app for me where I can always learn from the very basic stage till I'm advanced and fluent with it. Unfortunately, I couldn't learn it and there is one important thing that I have observed to be the hindrance in learning a language.
It's not always about the fact that any language is hard or difficult to learn but the willingness, attraction, and love for the language makes it easy to learn, understand, speak and possibly write based on level of willingness. Nothing is hard or difficult when you have interest in them to do but once it is based on trying to know it because it's needed for something, that pressure on its own makes the language seem like a huge mountain that can't be broken down.
My language is Yoruba and it's one of the most beautiful languages that people from different tribes admire so much alongside the culture and I would say it is easy to learn even with or without the willingness but having the willingness makes you see the beauty of my language in and out, get to know and speak the indept and likewise enjoy speaking it.
It makes me remember how my friend @rishagamo got interested in Yoruba language and was trying to have a conversation with me in Yoruba of which I knew clearly that he only wished to but was not understanding it well enough and sure it was showing from his responses. But you know what? It gladdens my heart that he was willing to learn my language and of course I want him to learn and know as well. So right now, we started from how to greet in my language for every part of the day, ekaaro (good morning), ekaasan (good afternoon, ekaale (good evening), odaaro (good night) and then moved forward to further greetings and differences between "how was your night" "how was yours?" "how about you?" and the likes.
Yoruba is so beautiful and I'm so proud of it especially when it has now become a language that even the whites now learn to speak and write and I was so marvelled the day I saw the videos of Chinese children, and from either United Kingdom or US of America singing our Yoruba lullaby songs that we sang during childhood. This shows how lovely and largely my language is getting accepted in the world and how easy it is to learn, read and write if you are willing to learn and love it to know.
