The Trend of Buying Death

So many things trending either basically for my country or the world at large. Sometimes it is a slang, sometimes dance steps, sometimes a new released song or album and sometimes it might be consequences of loopholes from the government but one thing remains certain that every of these trends have an impact in our lives as citizens either positively or negatively.

In the past, we've had slangs like "datiemo (know your own), "soro soke (speak out), and many others that ain't coming to my head at the moment or dance steps like "azonto", shokey, leg-up, etc and songs from local and international artists moving out mouths up and down like we won't accept any other new released song to our playlist anymore.

However, talking about trends, I wouldn't wanna mention or talk about any of these but this particular one that has really been dealing with the lives and health of people and almost no one seems to be taking this up seriously and that's the part of fake products.

Fake products are so much trending in my society now till the extent that nothing you can ever think of using on yourself or taking in through your mouth into your body system is not worth checking thoroughly as you might about to be intaking or using a poisonous substance. It's now a popular saying now that, we get to buy death with our own money which is really so sad to think of.

Back in those days when you can eat freely, drink freely or use your products with no side thought of eventually been killed by it. It's had to even pick a suspect now when a dead person is autopsied to have died from food poisoning because almost everything we take now are poisonous to our health.

A video circulated online some weeks back, with people pouring colouring to a particular substance to turn it to red oil we mostly use for cooking our soups. Who would not buy red oil when they see one in the market? Or can we blame consumers for getting their items to eat anymore? Toothpastes are fakes, apples are fake, wine are fake, carbonated drinks are fake, skin care is fake and nothing you can ever think about is not fakely produced nowadays and the saddening part is that people are dieing through this.

Who is allowing these products enter into the market? What are we supposed to look out for on these products when we are about purchasing them in the market? And can we even check for all including the supposed farm produce? Who are we to blame actually? Those are just the unanswered questions that keeps me bothered from time to time.

However, one thing stays with me all through this ordeal experienced by citizens, that I have to be careful of what I buy to eat or use on myself. The ones that are meant to have nafdac registered number should be checked thoroughly if they actually have and the ones without nafdac number should be checked thoroughly with necessary things to notice about a product we constantly use, to be sure it's not a fake product even if that's still not a feasible solution to things pertaining food of farm produce. Not opting for a cheap product is also a means of preventing the risk of buying fake products.

Above all, we only seek God's protection at this time because even the government has failed to protect us letalone saving ourselves. Not buying death with our own money remains the point of prayer.
