Right now, working in AI training has become a “livelihood” for many and an opportunity to take advantage of others. You see so many things in this world, and as always, there are groups of people doing all sorts of things—even hoarding a product that probably no one used to buy or even knew how to use. These cell phone head mounts have become extremely hard to find in this country; no matter where you ask, they’re sold out, and if they’re not sold out, then they want to sell them to you for $30, $20, or even $50—something that’s really worth less than $10. It’s absurd.

And you can't imagine how much I struggled to get this device—I've been looking for it for almost two months now. I even joined a Telegram group of people who work with this stuff, and the channel owner holds giveaways and also sells these mounts, but you have to be one of his lackeys or be a total brown-noser for him to sell them to you or give them away. As always, it’s all a mafia in these circles, and there’s always some people you have to beg to get what you want, hahaha. Anyway… The thing is, after searching everywhere, I got tired of it and came up with the idea of ordering it from abroad on a platform like Shein or AliExpress.

The thing is, since it had been a while since I’d shopped on AliExpress, the stand was so cheap that I ended up buying two of them, plus a little capybara lamp. They were very small, low-value items—I spent only $1.05 on those three things on AliExpress because when you haven’t shopped in a while, they give you huge discounts. Plus, I paid using my brand-new Binance credit card, and it was super easy. The downside was the shipping cost to Venezuela via the locker service—they do charge a bit more that way. I waited about 5 days, and my order was delivered to Miami. It took several days of uncertainty to find out the shipping cost for my package until they finally told me it was $25—considering it was just two head stands and a mini capybara lamp, I thought that was pretty good—the cheapest headrest here costs $15 for just one, so I think this is a great deal, and it saved me the stress of having to beg stores here to let me know when they’d have them in stock.

Well, that’s how everything in this country turns into a business, and sometimes it’s us, the most clueless ones, who end up getting hurt. I’ve been working all this time with a makeshift stand I put together using a strap, and I can’t even begin to explain how much that messed with my head—it was pulling out my hair, my forehead hurt, and I had to keep my neck really bent to get a good view. Anyway, I hope things get better with this new tool.
