Today, the squishy craze is getting stronger and stronger; they’ve evolved so much in such a short time that it really amazes me. Now there are all kinds of squishies with different textures—shaped like food, animals, and so on. My son has been obsessively asking me for a squishy, but I haven’t been able to find a store around here that carries them. I only found one, and they’re selling them for way too much, so I decided to make him his own squishies, even though I know they won’t last long… In fact, the water squishy already broke, hahahahaha, but at least I made him happy for a little while. I watched several TikTok videos showing how to make them with water, toilet paper, moldable foam, and various other materials, and of course, they explain it without telling you that it won’t last AT ALL (although maybe that’s kind of obvious, especially if it’s for a kid), but it would be nice if they clarified that before making a video about something that’s likely to break or rot easily. In my case, I wanted to make one with water and another with flour.
Proceso/Process
My water squishy turned out pretty misshapen (it’s my first time, so I guess it’s normal for it to have turned out that way), but I’ll show you how I made it anyway. First, I took a balloon and cut off the entire tip; I used the rubber band that was left to tie off the other end of the balloon. Then, we have to turn the balloon inside out completely until the knot we made is on the inside, This is so the balloon takes on a dumpling shape, since this time I wanted to make a dumpling-shaped squishy—that’s what my son wanted.

Since I wanted it to look super cool, I came up with the great idea of filling it with glitter and water. As best I could, I tried to open the balloon with my fingers while using my other hand to pour in two capfuls of silver glitter. Ideally, I would have filled the balloon with water straight from the faucet, but since there’s no running water in my area yet, I had to fill it with a large syringe. The problem was that I didn’t have enough water to fill it all at once, so I had to pull the syringe out three times, which caused some of the water and glitter to spill. Luckily, I had placed a container under my hands to keep my table from turning into a mess.

Once it was nicely filled, I had to tie it up—which was really hard, to be honest. Doing all this without spilling the water is quite a challenge… Then I drew a little face on it with a black marker (in the TikTok videos, they never mention that the face is temporary, so don’t get your hopes up—the face rubs off 5 minutes after you start using the squishy, even though I used a permanent marker) Well, you’re supposed to put tape on top afterward so it stays flattened like a dumpling, but when I tried that, the tape didn’t stick well and it looked really ugly. In the end, it looked really cute—the floating glitter was magical. Then I made another one because I was sure the water-filled one wouldn’t last my son very long, so I made him another one out of wheat flour, following pretty much the same process for tying the knot..

To fill it, cut a small water bottle to use as a funnel, place it in the balloon, and gradually add wheat flour until you've shaped this squishy.

Then I tied a knot in it and tried to put some tape on it, but that looked terrible too—oh well… In the end, I drew a little face on it, and it turned out great. It’s really relaxing, and my son was so happy with his squishies—he loves all these sensory toys.
